Welch signs with Angelo State

This past week, FHS senior Kitzy Welch signed a letter of intent to become a member of the Angelo State University track & field program. Kitzy is the current Friona school record holder in the discus throw and has won the silver medal at the state meet the last two years as well as a 4th place finish her sophomore year. She also competed in the 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and the shot put during her high school career. In academics, Kitzy plans to major in Marketing while at Angelo State. Congratulations Kitzy!!!

VBS Calendar — The Friona Methodist Church Vacation Bible School is set for May 27-30 from 5-8 p.m. each day. The First Baptist Church Vacation Bible School is June 1-5 from 1-4 p.m. each day.

Sales Tax Holiday — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is reminding families and businesses that they can purchase certain products tax free during the state’s Water-Efficient Products and ENERGY STAR® sales tax holidays that take place on Saturday, May 24th, through Monday, May 26th. Products include air conditioners priced at $6,000 or less, refrigerators priced at $2,000 or less, ceiling fans, fluorescent light bulbs, dishwashers, dehumidifiers, and clothes washers.
