Project Christmas Card benefits PMC

The annual Project Christmas Card program, sponsored by the Parmer Medical Center Auxiliary, is now underway. Proceeds from donations to Project Christmas Card are used to purchase equipment for the hospital. Auxiliary coordinator Connie Neelley said the hospital hopes to be able to purchase an additional air flow mattress with this year’s proceeds.

The air flow mattresses are used for long term patients, primarily elderly, to assist with comfort and to prevent rashes and/or other wounds from occurring by lying in one position for too long. The mattresses also provide movement for otherwise immobile patients.

The premise of Project Christmas Card in the beginning many years ago was for people to donate to the hospital auxiliary instead of spending on Christmas cards. Over the years the auxiliary has been able to provide many different pieces of equipment to the hospital. They hope this year will continue the tradition.

Auxiliary members have placed collection boxes at many local businesses. Any amount placed in the boxes will be appreciated. If you live outside the area and/or wish to mail a check, make it out to Project Christmas Card and mail it to us here at the newspaper, PO Box 789, Friona 79035 and we will see that it gets to the auxiliary.

Deposits are also being accepted at Friona State Bank and First National Bank-Friona Banking Center for Project Christmas Card. The Friona Star will publish a list to thank all donors in our December 20 Christmas newspaper. Your generosity is appreciated.
