Thelma Agnes (Mayo) Watkins

Thelma Agnes (Mayo) Watkins of Rio Communities, New Mexico passed away in Albuquerque, New Mexico on January 27, 2021 after a long battle with COPD.

She was born on February 5, 1932 in Santa Cruz, California. Thelma was 88 years old.

She married Kenneth Watkins on November 7, 1952 and lived MANY years in Friona, Texas.

She worked for many years at PCA (Production Credit Association) and also at Friona Industries for a number of years.

She was preceded in death by her Mom and Dad, Susie and William H. Mayo, of Santa Cruz, California; and one brother, Billy Mayo of Santa Cruz, California.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Ray Watkins of Rio Communities, New Mexico; 2 sons, Harry (Butch) Watkins of Los Lunas, New Mexico and John Meyers Pate of Atlanta, Georgia; 2 brothers, Harry Mayo of Santa Cruz, California and "Chet" Mayo of East Falmouth, Massachusetts.

No services are scheduled at this time. She is to be cremated and her ashes will be buried alongside her husband's ashes, upon his passing, in the Santa Fe Memorial Cemetery.

Carol Gilley

Carol Gilley (born Carol Morgan on June 28, 1955) passed peacefully in the company of loved ones on January 28, 2021 after a year's long battle with illnesses. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend to many, she will be greatly missed.

Carol grew up in Friona, Texas with parents Bill and Betty Morgan, sister Tonna Broyles, and brother Dennis Morgan. She later married and settled in Azle, Texas where she raised three daughters. Carol is survived by her children, Leslie Butler and spouse Daniel Butler, of Lubbock Texas; Jennifer Cobb and spouse Chris Cobb, of Fort Worth, Texas; and Kelsey Ford and spouse Zach Ford of Lubbock, Texas. She was also blessed with (and unconditionally loved by) eight grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Victoria, Christopher, Micah, Rylan, Peyton, Avery, Raegan, and Bax. Great grandchildren are Haygen, Hennessy, and Leeland. Carol was preceded in death by her parents Bill and Betty Morgan.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Sanders Memorial Chapel in Lubbock. Services will be webcast from her tribute page at www.sandersfuneralhome.com.

Clara E. Trowbridge

Funeral services for Clara E. Trowbridge, 97, a long-time Hereford resident was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 29, 2021 at First Methodist Church with the Reverend Robert Zavattieri, a sib-in-law, and pastor of New Fellowship Baptist Church of Luttrell, Tennessee, officiating, interment will follow at West Park Cemetery under the direction of Parkside Chapel Funeral Directors. Mrs. Trowbridge passed through Heaven's gate on Monday, January 25, 2021.

Clara Elizabeth Rector was born in Chaney, Oklahoma to Foister and Nancy Olive (Griffith) Rector. She attended school in Friona, graduating in 1941 from Friona High School. She was saved at Wesley Methodist Church, where she had perfect attendance in both Sunday School and Church. Her religion and Church were of the upmost importance in her life and the life of her family. Clara was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and served as secretary for over twenty-five years. Clara loved to travel and had driven to all forty-eight of the lower United States. She loved to travel, sew, crochet, quilt, read, and work all kinds of puzzles.

Clara is survived by two sons; Willard Murl May of Hereford, and David May and wife Sandy of Amarillo; one daughter Teena Zavattieri and husband Robert of Powder Springs, Tennessee; one brother Floyd Rector of Dallas; seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Trowbridge was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Kenneth, one granddaughter and one grandson and all of her siblings besides Floyd.
