Procter named Administrator

Parmer County Hospital District is proud to announce that Jeff Procter has been named the Administrator for Prairie Acres Nursing Home. Jeff has been working at Prairie Acres, as the Assistant Administrator, since October of 2020. While working as the Assistant Administrator, Jeff was also completing his coursework and internship in order to test to become a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. Jeff has persevered and passed the state and national exams and his appointment became official on March 9, 2021.

Jeff Procter moved to Friona at the age of 4. When he was 7 or 8 his mother, Libby, began to bring him and his sister Jenny to visit the then new Prairie Acres. Jeff would go on to graduate from Friona High School with the Class of 1988. He went on to pursue and obtain a degree in Business Administration from Lubbock Christian University. In 1996 he married Monica Neuhold. He went into the ministry in 1997 and received a Master's in Bible and Ministry from LCU in 2001. Jeff and Monica have one daughter, Elaina, who enjoys playing the violin.

Jeff and his family worked with several church congregations around Texas. In 2010, Jeff was asked to return to Friona to join the 6th St. Church of Christ, where he grew up, to serve as their minister. He will continue there as their pulpit minister. In 2014, Jeff joined Parmer Medical Center as Administrative Coordinator and Chaplain. In 2018, he moved to the clinic as the Business Office Manager.

Now, coming full circle from visiting Prairie Acres as a child, to visiting and caring for his grandmother at Prairie Acres in recent years; Jeff joins the Prairie Acres staff as Administrator. He states his excitement about joining this team of professionals to serve the seniors in Friona and surrounding communities. "I feel a great responsibility for taking care of previous generations that have given us so much in the way of a free country with great opportunity," Jeff said. He continued, "I am very thankful for all the support in pursuing this opportunity. I look forward to serving our community and those who may need us in the future. Prairie Acres and Heritage Estates has much to offer, and I am excited about the future."

Dale Schueler, Vice President of the Board of Directors for Parmer County Hospital District, said, "Jeff has studied and worked so hard for the last year to prepare for and now take and pass his accreditation tests to be a licensed administrator. His exceptional people skills and caring personality will be a tremendous asset as Administrator of Prairie Acres." Gayla Quillin, CEO of Parmer Medical Center, added, "We are so excited to see Jeff move into the new job and career path. He is such a huge asset to our community and we now know he will bring that same value to Prairie Acres and Heritage Estates. He already has an attachment to the nursing home because he grew up here and was a part of ministering to the residents there, even at an early age. Jeff has a passion for people, a heart for service, and a joy that will certainly assist him in this new journey. Congratulations, Jeff!"

The staff and residents of Prairie Acres would also like to extend a warm welcome to Jeff. He has already endeared himself as a part of the Prairie Acres and Friona Heritage Estates family. Jeff is a hometown favorite, and they are excited to have him lead the team as they continue to provide great healthcare for seniors in our region. Congratulations Jeff…Welcome to Prairie Acres!

Jeff Procter is the new Administrator at Prairie Acres.

10M Vaccines Administered In Texas

Governor Greg Abbott announced this week that ten million COVID-19 vaccines have been administered to Texans across the state, with over 30% of eligible Texans having received a vaccine. This significant milestone is a result of dedicated work by the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the Texas Department of State Health Services, the Texas National Guard, and the healthcare workers and volunteers across the state who have helped administer these vaccines.

"Hitting ten million vaccines is a major accomplishment in our state's continued fight against COVID-19," said Governor Abbott. "I want to thank all the healthcare workers and volunteers that made this milestone possible. However, the fight is not over. Vaccines are the most effective tool to combat COVID-19 in our communities, and we will continue to expand vaccine access for those who choose to get vaccinated. As more vaccines become available and eligibility opens to all Texans, I urge Texans who wish to get the COVID-19 vaccine to sign up to help us keep our communities safe. Here in Texas, COVID-19 vaccines will always be strongly encouraged and always voluntary."

April is the fourth month of the year in the Gregorian calendar and its predecessor, the Julian calendar. Its name is derived from the latin word aperit, which means to open. It is considered that April is the month of the growing season and when trees and flowers begin to "open". It is also believed that the month's name is named after the Greek goddess, Aphrodite (Aphros).
