Erma L. Schilling

Erma L. Schilling 95 of Dimmitt, formerly of Friona passed away August 10, 2021 in Dimmitt. Viewing was held from 9:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday, August 13, 2021 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with family conducted Celebration of Life Memorial Services scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at the Barn Church 3948 FM 1057 Hereford with Pastor Guy Walker, officiating. Arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Erma was born December 15, 1925 in Slaton to Joseph Anton and Emma Miksch Heinrich. She later married Lawrence Henry Schilling June 1, 1943 in Slaton.

Erma was a very creative individual making hundreds of quilts for the Hope Pregnancy Center in Temple and others, she loved to crochet, make homemade bread, can food, make soap and had a special touch in growing flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 sons-Perry J. Schilling and Dan Schilling, and 1 daughter-Mary Gustin.

Those to carry on her legacy include 6 sons-Jimmy Schilling and Larry Schilling of Amarillo, Vincent Schilling and wife Katherine of Hobbs, N.M., Clyde Schilling and wife Debbie of Lubbock, Kevin Schilling and wife Linda of Canyon, and Tom Schilling and wife Nancy of Lubbock, 4 daughters-Linda Brower and husband Wayne of Brookhaven, PA., Sandy Hughes and husband Clarence of Castlerock, CO., Angie Goodnough of Wolfforth, and Brenda Whitmore and husband Dub of DeLeon, 1 sister-Margaret Bednarz of Slaton, 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Karen Sue Strong Knock

Karen Sue Strong Knock passed away August 13, 2021 in Friona. Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. August 21, 2021 at Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart with Kurtis Abla, officiating. Inurnment will follow. Arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona and Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart.

Karen was born August 10, 1948 in Dalhart to James Arthur and Karlena Mable Cox Bishop Strong.

After graduating high school, she attended beautician school in Amarillo. She was an avid gardener, and gospel music was played as loud as possible while tending to her beautiful flowers. Her love for all things historical brought her to love genealogy. Karen was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution, and The Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Karen married Donald Henry Knock in Lennox, South Dakota on April 30, 1981.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother-Deward Lynn Strong and a great-grandson-Copeland Johnson.

Survivors include her husband Donald Knock of Lennox, South Dakota, 3 children-Vincent Koelzer and wife Amy and grandson Hunter all of Wheeler, Greg Koelzer of Wheeler, Valencia Koelzer Meier and husband Peter of Friona, grandson- Landon Johnson and wife Shanda, and great-grandson Archer all of Amarillo, grandson-Michael Johnson and wife Jade and great-grandsons Schaefer and McCoy, all of Canyon, grandson-Donavan Johnson of Amarillo, sister-in-law-Kim Strong of Oklahoma, nieces-Dana Strong Abla of Dalhart, Nikki Strong of Oklahoma, DJ Strong of Colorado, many other nieces, nephews, friends and family members.

Alvis "Dave" Bentley

Alvis "Dave" Bentley, 85 of Friona passed away August 16, 2021 in Friona. Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 18, 2021 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with Celebration of Life Graveside Services set for 2:00 PM Thursday, August 19, 2021 at the Friona Cemetery in Friona with Jeff Procter, officiating. Burial following by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Dave was born January 2, 1936 in Corsicana, Texas to Albert David and Alice Pearl Menefee Bentley. He later married Dora Geneva Wilkerson on December 3, 1955 in Dimmitt.

He was a longtime area farmer and also truck driver and night watchman for several area feed yards. He loved his family, tinkering with old cars and fishing.

Dave is preceded in death by his parents and 1 son- Danny Ray Bentley and 1 brother-Don Bentley.

Those to carry on his legacy include his wife Dora Geneva Bentley of Friona, 1 son-Ricky Don Bentley and wife Rhonda of Friona, 1 daughter-Susan Elaine Walker of Muleshoe, 4 brothers-Buck Bentley of Hereford, Dale Bentley of Amarillo, Dub Bentley of Friona, and Buster Bentley and wife Ruby of Perry, Oklahoma, 3 sisters-Katie Wilkerson of Paris, Texas, Betty Fritz and husband Jim, and Joan Walters, all of Elkhart, Indiana,9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Pedro Bernabe Viernes

Pedro Bernabe Viernes, 54 of Bovina passed away August 9, 2021 in Bovina. Viewing was held from 1:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. with Rosary Services set for 6:00 P.M. Sunday, August 15, 2021 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with Mass of Christian Burial Services set for 10:00 A.M. Monday, August 16, 2021 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bovina with Father Gregory Bunyan, as Celebrant. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Pedro was born January 28, 1967 In Mexico to Juadalupe Santellan and Jubita Bernabe Viernes. He was quite a handyman with skills of mechanics, plumbing, and welding. He was a people person that liked to give to others and make them happy.

Those to mourn his passing include his wife Mona Contreras of Bovina, 2 sons-Zenon Viernes of Friona and Eraclio Viernes of Bovina, 1 step-daughter-Emilia Contreras of Bovina, 5 brothers Tiburico Viernes and wife Bacilia, Tito Viernes and wife Eva, Bacilio Viernes, all of Bovina, Julio Viernes and wife Maricela of Morton, and Jeronimo Viernes of Mexico, 2 sisters-Josefina Viernes of Bovina, and Felipa Viernes of Mexico, 9 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roberta Klapper

Roberta Klapper, 83, passed away on August 6, 2021 in Pampa, Texas. Celebration of Life services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2021 at Briarwood Church with Pastor Jim Sinyard officiating. Interment followed at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Pampa. Arrangements by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa.

Roberta was born on November 3, 1937 in Friona to Bud and Juanita Boggess Reed. She moved from Friona to Pampa in 1956. Roberta married the love of her life, Billy Klapper on February 2, 1973 in Childress. She was a member of Carpenter's Church for several years. Roberta worked at Addington's Western Wear, Farm Bureau, Baker Elementary, and Wilson Elementary. She enjoyed fishing, hunting, and serving at her church. Roberta was known for singing specials at church and cooking for her church family. Roberta rode horseback competitively well into her 60s. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Roberta will be remembered for competitive nature, her kindness, and her cooking skills.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph Reed; son, Tommy Watson; son-in-law, Bobby Briscoe; and granddaughter, Bana Carnes.

Roberta is survived by her husband, Bill Klapper; 6 children, Kathy Taylor and husband Charlie, Regina Dye, Glenda Briscoe, Dough Watson, Debbie Yeates and husband David, and Elizabith Wilson; 1 sister, Patsy Bandy and husband Eugene; 17 grandchildren, Autumn, Whitney, Dillon, Robby, Lea Ann, Terra, Jessica, Cullon, Josalyn, Shelton, Ricky, Cody, Drake, Dusty, Mandy, Rebeccda, and Darrell; 30 great grandchildren; and a host of other family and friends.
