Julio Torrez Sr.

Julio Torrez Sr., 58 of Friona passed away November 2, 2022 in Lubbock. Viewing was held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Saturday November 5, 2022 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY. Cremation to follow by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Julio was born August 26, 1964 in Harlingen, Texas to Simon Torrez and Rafaela Madrigal Torrez. He was a longtime area truck driver that loved to help people, especially family and total strangers. He loved joking around and was always joyful. His passions include updating his truck and all things Chevy.

Those to mourn his passing include his wife Hilda Prieto of Friona, 3 daughters- Kathy Torrez of Clovis, Mary Jane Flores of Ft. Worth, and Amanda Sauceda of Terrell, 1 son-Julio Torrez, Jr. of Ft. Worth, 3 brothers-Rafael Torres of Friona, Simon Torres, Jr. of Progresso, and Gilbert Torres of Baytown, 3 sisters-Irma Balli of Friona, Silvia Sosa of Tyler, and Rachel Martinez of Hereford, and 12 grandchildren..

Ramiro G. Caballero

Ramiro G. Caballero, 87 of Friona passed away November 4, 2022 in Amarillo. Viewing was held Sunday November 6, 2022 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM with Rosary Services at 6:00 PM in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with Mass of Christian Burial Services set for 11:00 AM Monday, November 7, 2022 at St. Teresa's Catholic Church of Friona with Father Gregory Bunyan as Celebrant. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Ramiro was born in Weslaco, Texas to Arnulfo and Enriqueta Gomez Caballero. He later married Matilde Rodriguez March 17, 1957.

He was a very humble, giving person that was very social. He truly never met a stranger. Ramiro loved his family and his church.

He is preceded in death by his parents Arnulfo and Enriqueta Caballero, son-David Caballero, granddaughter-Mia Caballero, great-grandson Isaiah Santellana, and son-in-law Joe Santellana.

Those to mourn his passing include his wife-Matilde Caballero of Friona, 5 sons-Rolando Caballero of Friona, Rojelio, Robert and Eloy Caballero, all of Hereford, and Ramiro Caballero II of Killeen, Texas, 1 daughter-Diane Santellana of Friona, 1 brother- Ricardo Caballero and 1 sister- Hilda Cuellar, both of Weslaco, 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

Delton Lewellen

Delton Lewellen, 88 of Friona passed away November 4, 2022. Celebration of Life Services was Tuesday, November 8 at 10:30 at First Baptist Church in Friona with Pastor Brett Hoyle officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Delton was born September 22, 1934, in Hale County to Thomas Wayland and Elva Lou Matlock Lewellen. He married Betty Louise Shapley in Center, Colorado on Dec. 27, 1953, and celebrated 69 years of marriage.

Delton was a very kind, generous and thoughtful man and an amazing husband, father and Grandad. He was very proud of his family including his nieces, nephews and many friends, and never met a stranger. Knowing him meant lots of good times, listening to many jokes and stories and never leaving hungry. He had a special place in his heart for all animals, especially dogs. His kind heart will be missed by all who knew him.

His life was an example of Biblical truths, that guided him as a longtime deacon at First Baptist Church of Friona. He served on many committees and leadership roles in the church. He was part of a mission team that drilled a well and built a church in Banderas, Mexico. He was also instrumental in remodeling several churches in Friona, Hereford, and Southfork Colorado.

In the 1950's he did dirt work and started Lewellen Construction Company. With the help of his crews and a faithful employee and friend, Kent Patterson they built many businesses and homes in the Texas Panhandle. He was in the construction business for over 50 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Elva Lou Lewellen, granddaughter-Jenny and son-in-law-Raymond Hamilton, brother-Joe Lewellen, and sisters- Ann Kelley and Tommy Goetz.

Those to carry on his legacy include his wife Betty of Friona, Donna Schueler and husband Dale of Friona, and Pam Hamilton of Canyon. Five grandsons, Monty and wife Tessa, Wade and wife Candice, and Kevin and wife Ami Schueler of Friona. Davy and wife Kelly, Jeff and wife Kamie Hamilton of Canyon along with 17 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to First Baptist Church Friona, or Prairie Acres Nursing Home.
