Angelina Faye McWilliams

Angelina Faye McWilliams, 86 of Clovis went to receive her heavenly reward on March 3, 2022. Viewing was held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM (CT) Monday, March 7, 2022 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY in Friona with Celebration of Life Services at 10:00 AM (MT), Tuesday, March 8, 2022 at the West 21st St. Church of Christ in Clovis, NM with Randy McWilliams, officiating. Burial followed in the Lawn Haven Memorial Gardens in Clovis by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona, Texas

Faye was born in Clovis, New Mexico on June 21, 1935, to Escar and Blanche Burton. After graduation from Forrest High School she began working for Mountain Bell Telephone at the age of 19. On June 22, 1957, she married Vernon McWilliams.

Faye worked as a very friendly switchboard operator for Mountain Bell for 30 years, retiring at the age of 49. She was a long-time member of the West 21st St. Church of Christ, placing membership before the congregation moved from the 10th Street building. She was noted for her great cooking, especially during the holidays when she would bake an assortment of breads, and candies of all types. Family and church members as well as her neighbors all benefited from Faye's gift of cooking. Faye loved family gatherings, outdoor activities, and playing games with loved ones.

Faye is preceded in death by her husband, Vernon, her parents, Escar and Blanche Burton, a brother, Billy Burton, and a sister, Emmie Love.

She is survived by three sisters, Yvonne Mercadante, Ellen Burton, and Bertie (Snipes) Lindsey, son Randy (Terrie) McWilliams, and daughter Cynthia (Randy) McCasland, 5 grandchildren Marc (Brenda) McWilliams, Justin (Rebecca) McCasland, Kaitlin (Kyle) Hendrickson, Amber (Matt) Westfall, and Donovan (Selena) McWilliams, 4 great grandsons Connor and Caden McCasland, Jacob McWilliams, and Holden Westfall, and 2 great granddaughters Aria Faye Westfall and Layla McWilliams.

Memorials can be made to Portales Christian Children's Home in Portales, N.M. or Prairie Acres Nursing Home in Friona as an option to flowers.

Melvin Wayne Edwards

Melvin Wayne Edwards (86) of Lubbock, formerly of Tahoka, went to his heavenly home January 31, 2022. He was born May 22, 1935 in Lynn County to Hubert and Willie Mae Edwards. Melvin attended school at New Lynn and Wilson Texas. Melvin had a love for many 4-H activities and received an Anderson-Clayton Cotton Scholarship. He served in the United States Army from 1955-1956 and was honorably discharged.

January 6 was the 65th anniversary of Melvin and the former Jeanell Martin. They were married at the First Methodist Church in Tahoka, Texas. They made their home in Draw Texas.

Melvin absolutely loved farming and tilling the soil. He loved going to work everyday, working with his hands, and seeing the fruits of his labor at the end of the season. He retired from farming in the early 80's. For 8 years Melvin and Jeanell operated the Hometown Hardware store in Tahoka then moved to Lubbock.

Melvin was a faithful member of Southcrest Baptist Church serving as a deacon. He was also a Master Mason for over 50 years.

Melvin is survived by his wife, Jeanell; his son, Mike of Hobbs NM (Patti Jones); grandchildren, Cody Edwards (Tawana) of Owasso, OK; Cassie Lakin (Heath) of Hobbs, NM; great-grandchildren, Madison and Audrey Edwards of Owasso, OK; and Jax Lakin of Hobbs, NM. His sister Imojean Tunnell of Amarillo and a host of much loved nieces, nephews,and friends.

Memorials may be sent to St. Jude's Hospital; Southcrest Baptist Church of Lubbock or Alzheimer's Association.

Services will be held at a later date.

Billy Henry “Bill” Brandt

Billy Henry “Bill” Brandt, age 83 of Springdale, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, March 8, 2022. He was born April 18, 1938, in Littlefield, Texas to Ernest John and Ruth Bernece (Goertz) Brandt. Bill graduated with a Civil Engineering degree from Texas Tech University. He began farming in Friona, Texas in 1961 and then moved to Springdale in 1972 where he returned to civil engineering. Farming and ranching were always important to Bill, and in Arkansas he continued to run cattle and pursue his enthusiasm for John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and trips to their mountain retreat in Westcliffe, Colorado. He had a deep love and appreciation for America.

Bill was an active member and elder of Salem Lutheran Church for many years. He loved the Lord and strived to be a faithful steward of the things he was blessed with. He was also a member of The Gideons International. His joy was to distribute Bibles on school and college campuses. Bill was devoted to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie (Wagner) Brandt; three children, Kelley Davis and husband Mark, Kim Simco and husband Brian, all of Springdale, Keith Brandt and wife Sherry of Corinth, Texas; three sisters, Betty Peterschmidt of Victoria, Texas, Jane Brandt of Anacortes, Washington, Pam Kennedy and husband Bruce of Lubbock, Texas; eight grandchildren, Matthew Davis and wife Jessica, Chase Davis and wife Roxy, Elizabeth Hicks and husband Bradley, Emily Kate Beyer and husband Nick, Kari Beth High and husband Aaron, Christopher Simco and wife Lauren, Rachel Brandt, Garrison Brandt; and ten great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022 at Salem Lutheran Church in Springdale, Arkansas with a reception and visitation to follow.
