James Earl Perkins

James Earl Perkins, 77, of Amarillo, died March 21, 2022. Services were held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Amarillo Church of Christ, 9999 S. Western, with Paul Wyly officiating. Burial took place at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Western Park Cemetery in Hereford, Texas. The family received friends Thursday March 24, 2022 from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Griggs-Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, located at 5400 Bell St. Amarillo, Texas.

He was born March 23, 1944 to Richard and Lillie Mae Perkins. He was a school teacher for 53 years, and began his career in Lubbock in the late 1960s. In 1973 he began teaching Math in Hereford at Stanton Jr. High. In 1979 began teaching Chemistry and Physics at Hereford High School, where he taught until his retirement in 2020. He was a faculty sponsor for the National Honor Society for many years, as well sponsoring Academic Decathlon. From 1986 to 1989, he sponsored a Summer Track Program in Hereford. He loved following Hereford Athletic events and filmed countless events for many years. The highlight of every school year was attending the UIL State Track Meet held in Austin - this was his "Superbowl" that he attended from around 1987 until 2019. He was a longtime member of the Park Avenue Church of Christ in Hereford. He loved spending time with his kids and grandkids, and was an avid woodworker, building numerous furniture projects over the years.

He is survived by two sons; Coby Perkins & wife Brenda, and Brooke Perkins & wife Angela; two brothers, Bobby Perkins & wife Dianne, and Billy Perkins; four sisters, Alisa Trimmell & fiancé Brent Riethmayer, Angela Novak, Anita White & husband Larry, and Linda Pate.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard & Lillie Mae Perkins, and his wife, Anita Dianne Perkins.

In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the James Perkins Memorial Fund at Happy State Bank. The proceeds of the Memorial will benefit graduates at Hereford High School.

Hugo William Falkenberg

Hugo William Falkenberg passed from this life to be with his Lord in Friona on Monday, April 11, 2022 at the age 85 years, eleven months. Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM Thursday, April 14, 2022 with Celebration of Life Services at 1:30 PM Friday, April 15, 2022 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with Ron Brunson officiating. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery by Hansard Family Funeral Home of Friona.

Hugo was born on May 24, 1936 in Lubbock Texas, the 6th child to Charlie William Falkenberg and Emma (Meyer) Falkenberg. Hugo married the love of his life Peggy Scarborough Falkenberg on January 5, 1957 in Petersburg Texas, resulting in a marriage of 65 years.

Hugo began his life career in farming, custom harvesting, and trucking. He retired in 2012.

Hugo was a perfectionist and believed in doing a job well.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and 5 siblings: Ida Balzen, Ella Mumme, Ernest Falkenberg, Corine Choate and August Falkenberg.

Hugo is survived by his wife Peggy of Bovina, a daughter Trudy (Roy) Hartzog of Farwell, a daughter Kathy Falkenberg of Bovina, a son Charles (Machelle) Falkenberg of Muleshoe. 2 grandchildren Amy (Brian) Gruntmeir of Donnellson, Iowa and Ashley Hartzog of Silverton, Texas. 4 great- grandchildren Brianna Gruntmeir of Cedar Rapids, Iowa and Sidney, Allison and Derrick Gruntmeir of Donnellson Iowa, two sister-in-law Berta Simmons of Lubbock, Texas and Laquita Herring of Slaton, Texas.

To paraphrase humorist Will Rogers, who never met a man he didn't like…, you never met a person who didn't like Hugo.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts to the Bovina, Texas Cemetery fund.
