Cruz Perez Gonzales

Cruz Perez Gonzales, 93, of Friona, Texas went home with our Lord surrounded with her family on July 1, 2022.

Rosary was said at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Friona, Texas. Mass followed at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2022, at St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Friona, Texas.

Cruz was born in Malakoff, Texas, Henderson County, on September 14, 1928, to Feliz Lopez Perez and Isabel Sanches Rodriguez.

Cruz was a housewife, hard labor worker in fields, seamstress, and a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her children always came first before herself, she had seven children.

She was preceded in death by her children, Pat Toscano, Daniel Gonzales, and Jimmy Gonzales.

Survivors include her children, Josie Gonzales Bauista (Lupe Bauista), Paul Gonzales Jr. (Susan Gonzales), Becky Gonzales Perkins, and Susie Gonzales Hudson (Jack Hudson); twenty-three grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren.

Anna Jo Blackburn

Memorial services for Anna Jo Blackburn, 93, of Friona Texas, will be held on Tuesday, July 19th 2022 at 2:00 pm at the 6th Street Church of Christ in Friona. Jeff Procter and Hal D. Blackburn will officiate. Burial will follow at the Lazbuddie Cemetery, with arrangements by Hansard Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Blackburn passed away on July the 12th at Prairie Acres Nursing Home.

She was born on September 24th, 1928, on the family farm near Lazbuddie, to William Joseph and Arma Eunice (Plant) Coffman. Upon graduating from Muleshoe High School in 1945, she moved to Amarillo, Texas and later graduated from Amarillo School of Cosmetology. She operated her own beauty shop on Main St. in Friona for 10 years.

Anna Jo married Dean Blackburn on June 6th 1948. They enjoyed 44 years of marriage. Dean passed away on April 19 1992.

Anna Jo was faithful and active member of the 6th St. Church of Christ in Friona, Texas for 73 years. As a disciple and servant of Jesus Christ - she was an inspiration and a mentor to many - both far and near. Anna Jo delivered Meals on Wheels for 28 years and proudly wore the title of Friona's Avon Lady for 55 years. During her long career, Anna Jo received the 4 highest honors that Avon bestows on its representatives, including: Honor Society, President's Club, Spirit of Avon Award and Lifetime Achievement Award. She worked as a volunteer at Prairie Acres ever since the doors opened in 1976. She served as hairdresser, and also helped with visitation and planning social events. Anna Jo happily and peacefully lived at Prairie Acres the last 2 years of her earthly life. She was honored as Friona's Woman of the Year in 2015.

Mrs. Blackburn was preceded in death by two sisters Oneida Allen and Minnie Glasscock; and three stepsisters, Marie Hinds, Esther McKillip and Cordelia Cochran. She was also preceded in death by six brothers, Harold William Coffman, Horace "Hob" Coffman, E.R. "Weedie" Coffman, T.E. Coffman, W.J. Coffman and Cliff Coffman.

She is survived by her son Hal and his wife Marvine of Boys Ranch, Texas and one grandchild, Jennifer Renae Blackburn of Plainview Texas. Anna Jo is also survived by a great host of nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, Lubbock Christian University Bible Department Scholarship Fund, and the Red River Family Encampment.
