FRIONA WEATHER

The Chieftains hosted Sundown last Friday in their first scrimmage of the year. Head Coach Jimmy Arias said he was very pleased with the level of play and was especially encouraged by the effort of the offensive line. In baseball, some players can read the "seams" as the pitch is coming towards them. In this photo, you can read the "seam" as the football floats by the intended receiver.

Town Talk

Just a matter of time — There were accidents at the two Friona area "hotspots" this past week. The Cargill plant entrance west of town and the notorious Hub intersection south of town were the locations of the fender benders. Fortunately, no one was seriously hurst in either of the accidents this time.

Small World News — FISD personnel attended a "going back to school" motivational conference entitled "Thrive" last week at the Amarillo Civic Center. Junior High teacher Sarah Geries was walking down an aisle of vendor booths when she heard someone shout her name. She kept walking and then they shouted "Sarah Mears" and she stopped. How would someone know her maiden name? Turns out it was 1983 FHS graduate Sheri Dodson. Sheri is a Senior Executive Director at Lamar University. The two had a good visit and got caught up on the past ?? years.

Snack Pak 4 Kids fundraiser raises $60,000

On July 31st the Parmer County Snack Pak 4 Kids Team hosted the Annual "Feeding the Future Fundraiser" at Alpo's Barn in Farwell, Texas. The evening was full of music, fun, and included a Silent and Live Auction. The profits from the event will be used to purchase food for qualifying students in Friona, Farwell, Texico, Bovina, Muleshoe, and Lazbuddie.

Thanks to our local communities this year's event was again a great success! The 2022 Feeding the Future Auction raised a total of $60,000 dollars for our LOCAL Snack Pak Programs. We look forward to working with our schools to help students to be better prepared and succeed in the classroom and in life.

The Parmer County Snack Pak 4 Kids Team would like to thank everyone that donated to, participated in, volunteered for, and attended our event. A Special Thank you goes out to Alan & Edie Kalbas of Alpo's Barn, their generous teamwork makes this event work!

Thank you for helping us "Feed the Future"!!!
