Patsy Gresham Riggins, 85 of Friona passed away November 24, 2023 peacefully in Amarillo. Viewing was held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with Celebration of Life Services scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Sixth St. Church of Christ of Friona with Jeff Procter, officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.
Patsy was born March 10, 1938 in her home in Quail, TX to M.T. "Boge" and Virgie White. She was the youngest of four children. Patsy married Wendell Gresham August 7, 1959 in the First Baptist Church at Quail, TX. Wendell and Patsy lived in Amarillo for six years before moving to 1206 W 7th Street in Friona in 1968. Patsy loved living in her home in Friona and never wanted to move from it. Wendell and Patsy raised two daughters Wendy Ruth and Shelia Kay.
Patsy taught school for 33 years before retiring from Friona ISD. She loved being a teacher. All of her years in Friona she was a fourth grade teacher in the same classroom. One of her favorite things about teaching was teaching siblings, or later the children of kids she had previously taught. Many of Patsy's greatest friendships were the people she taught with. Patsy was an active member of Sixth Street Church of Christ when she was younger and loved attending worship services.
Patsy was preceded in death by Wendell in 1997. Wendell was the love of her life! Later, Patsy married Royce Riggins on January 22, 2000 at Sixth Street Church of Christ. They made their home in Friona. Patsy and Royce shared a love to travel and had great memories together before Royce passed away October 23, 2007.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands Wendell Gresham and Royce Riggins, her brother Alvin White, two grandchildren Tanner Straughan and Carrie Harris, and a son-in-law Andy Harris.
She is survived by her two daughters Wendy Harris of Amarillo, Shelia Smith and husband Coby of Justin, brother Delbert White, sister Ina Keeton, grandchildren Jo Beth Harris, Marcus Harris, Kami Harris, Kailey Harris, Caleb Straughan and wife Shelly, Hunter Straughan, and wife Hayley, Brady Straughan and wife Haley and one great-grandson Slade Straughan.
Patsy touched many lives in her lifetime and she richly blessed the lives of her family and friends. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her.
