Town Talk

End of an Era - For roughly 30 years the 6th Street Church of Christ has been collecting clothes and other items for two children's homes. As of this week, they are discontinuing their panhandle route. Therefore, we no longer have a distribution point to send these items. We would like to thank the community for their many years of support for this work. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to accept clothing items at the church building.

Parmer County's Hassell Family Murders Performed in Stage Production

The 1926, true story of the Hassell Family mass murders has been a part of Parmer County history for nearly a hundred years. It has now been brought to life in the stage production, "Killer Among Us", presented by Exit Right Productions, a local theatre company.

"The intent of this production isn't focused on the crime, but instead it reminds us that coming together as a community during hard times is what makes us strong and gives us our grit," said Gina Prather, director and writer of the show. "Anyone who sees this show will walk away thrilled that they came!"

The play will be performed at the Bovina Church of Christ building, 500 Ave. E, on Saturday March 4th at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday March 5th at 3:30 p.m. Admission is free and donations are welcome. A portion of all donations will go to the Bovina Christian Benevolence Fund.

Love was in the air as these members of the floral design class made Valentine's Day arrangements and learned some new, much-needed skills. National Floral Design Day is February 28th and it recognizes the art and history of floral design, which is a multi-billion dollar industry. The special day was created to celebrate the birthday of Carl Rittner, a pioneer in floral art education and the founder of the Rittners School of Floral Design in Boston over 60 years ago.
