Glaytus Aloha Copeland Wyly

Glaytus Aloha Copeland Wyly departed this life on March 6, 2023 in Hereford, Texas at the age of 93. Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM with family visitation beginning at 6:00 PM Thursday, March 9, 2023 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY with Celebration of Life Memorial Services scheduled for 2:00 PM Friday, March 10, 2023 also in the chapel with Paul Wyly, officiating,. Arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Glaytus was born on April 27, 1929 to Ruby Stella and Noah Sequard Copeland near Petersburg TX., She was the youngest of 10 children.

She married Elton Wyly on January 12, 1948, in Lubbock, TX. Early in their marriage, they moved to South Dakota to farm and ranch. After 6 years or so, they returned to Texas where they continued to farm and work in the ag industry in Deaf Smith and Parmer counties. They eventually moved to the place East of Black, TX, where they lived for about 36 years. Following Elton's death, she moved to Hereford to be close to family.

She was a homemaker and an avid gardener and loved raising roses. She enjoyed painting pictures, crocheting, and playing the piano. During their farming days, she sometimes assisted Elton on the farm and prepared most of the meals for the hired hands and harvest crews. She thoroughly enjoyed greeting and visiting with the countless guests that came to their home for chiropractic treatments throughout the years.

She was baptized into Christ when she was 13 years old and attended the Park Avenue Church of Christ in Hereford most of her adult life. She will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years in 2006, and one son Clyde in 2014. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Ford Copeland, and her sisters, Jerolene Lutrell, Loleta Ware, Juanita Hazelton, Leona Lewis, Oda Yarbrough, Valta Yarbrough and their spouses, and two infant sisters, Cleta Bell and Eldora.

Glaytus is survived by her two daughters, Wileta Pennington and husband Terry of Wichita Falls, TX, Deloris McNeely and husband Justin of Hereford, and one son, Paul and wife Patsy, of Hereford. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and by two sisters-in-law, Nova Vaughn of Amarillo, and Lydia Wyly of Friona.
