Turning Twenty - The Heart Hospital at Northwest Texas Healthcare System will celebrate its 20th anniversary on Thursday, September 21 from 2-3 p.m. at 1501 S. Coulter in the Heart Hospital lobby. Media and members of the community are invited to attend. Since its inception 20 years ago, The Heart Hospital has been dedicated to fighting America's No. 1 killer - heart disease. As a leader in cardiovascular care for the Texas Panhandle community, medical staff and professionals have been bringing the latest technology for patients with cardiovascular diseases.

Job #1 - Governor Greg Abbott congratulated Texans and Texas employers on again leading all 50 states for annual jobs growth following the release of August employment data by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Texas added 402,000 nonfarm jobs from August 2022 to August 2023. "Texas leads the nation once again, creating more jobs over the last 12 months than any other state," said Governor Abbott. In August, Texas also again broke all previous records for total jobs, the number of Texans working, and the size of the Texas labor force.

What Was That!!! - Some sort of semi-tornadic event occurred last Friday evening during the storm that hit Friona and the surrounding area.
