A Message from Friona FFA officers, students, and advisors - What a turnout!!! Special thanks to the Friona Vocational Agricultural Association for cooking 130 burgers and always supporting FFA and FCCLA. Also, thanks to everyone who turned out and made the Back to School FFA Cookout a success! Take a Tour - A new home tour at Buena Tierra is scheduled for 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 10th. The new housing project is located on North Main St. across from Legacy Pointe & Prairie Acres.

Ribbon Cutting Event - Grand Opening festivities are scheduled for Thursday, September 7th for Panhandle Community Services located at 104 W. 9th. in Friona. Ribbon Cutting at 10:30 a.m. and Open House from 11:00 a.m. till 1:30 p.m.

Parmer Paws Raffle - The animal outreach shelter is raffling off a new flattop grill from Traeger. Tickets are $5 each (5 for $20) and are available at LoneStar Ag or by calling 806-240-1821. Winner will be announced at Maize Days on Saturday September 23rd at 1:30 p.m. in the city park. Must be 18 or older and do not need to be present to win. Proceeds will benefit the shelter with its mission.

Candidate to visit Friona - Vance Boyd, a Republican running for U.S. Representative in 2024, will be in Friona on Thursday at the Senior Citizens Center at 11:30 a.m.

Prairie/Legacy News - Soccoro Reyes is the Prairie Acres Resident of the Month for September. The Employee of the Month is Gary Johnson who joined the staff in 2013 and is the Maintenance Supervisor. Bingo night is scheduled for Thursday September 21st at 6 p.m. Also, the 3rd Annual Car and Craft Show is set for Saturday, October 7th. Snack Pak Fundraiser Event - There will be a Snack Pak 4 Kids® fundraiser benefiting the Friona, Bovina, Farwell, Texico, Lazbuddie, and Muleshoe communities on Saturday, September 23rd from 6-9 p.m. at the XIT Center in Bovina. You must purchase a ticket to attend. Tickets are $35 each and available at Hi-Pro in Friona. There will be food and drinks, live and silent auctions, and music by Clifton Castle. Any business interested in donating auction items are welcome to reach out to Varla Wilcox at Hi-Pro.

Volunteers Welcome - Snack Pak 4 Kids volunteers pack boxes every two weeks at 3 p.m. on Tuesdays at the Methodist Church north entrance. The first packing day was September 5. If there is a time or date change, it is posted on the Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SnackPak4KidsFriona. Volunteers are always appreciated and if any business is interested in making this a community service, we can definitely work around their schedule to pack at a convenient time for all.

Celebrating #60 - The FHS Class of 1963 is celebrating its 60th class reunion. They will meet on September 22nd at 6:00 at 1722 West 9th (Home of Sharon White) for a meal. Some may go to the homecoming game after the pile-on meal. On Saturday, they will meet at 9:30 a.m. in front of the junior high to ride on a float in the parade. After park visitation, they will continue eating/visiting back at 1722 West 9th. On Saturday evening, they will meet at Leal's in Muleshoe at 7:00 p.m.
