Save The Date - St. Teresa of Jesus Church will host its annual Mexican Dinner on Sunday, March 3rd from 11:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in St. Teresa's Hall. The meal consists of two enchiladas, one taco, beans, rice, salad, drink, and dessert. Donations are $15.00 for adults and $8.00 for children under 10. Take-out available. See you there.

Under the Influence - if this week's Friona Star seems a little different it is because the editor had a tooth extracted on Monday (on purpose). All of the numbing agents, antibiotics, mouthwash, painkillers, and restricted diet (no food) made for a interesting couple of days.

Parmer County 4-H Team Wins Title

In the Photo - Congratulations to Parmer County 4-H members (middle three, l-r) Libby Carpenter, Ally Brooks Carpenter and Dieter Ally. They were the Championship Team in the Dairy Judging Contest at the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo last week. In individual scoring, Dieter finished in 11th place and Ally finished in 9th place. High point individual in the contest was Libby Carpenter. She received a $10,000 scholarship for the 1st place finish.

The late Toby Keith

Ben McCain sent an email to the Friona Star this past week with a link to an interview that he and his brother Butch conducted with the music superstar Toby Keith in 1993. The McCain Brothers, who grew up on a farm near Bovina, hosted a morning TV show in Oklahoma City from 1980 to 1994.

In his career, Toby Keith had 42 Top 10 hits, 32 #1 hits, 40 million albums sold, and more than 10 billion streams. He passed away on February 5th after a battle with cancer.

The interview is part of the YouTube video series Daddy and The Big Boy which is hosted by Ben McCain and Zac McCain.
