Chief/Squaw basketball update

Here are a few updates on recent Squaw/Chieftain basketball games. The teams continue district play Friday night at Friona gym hosting the Muleshoe Mules. Video replay of the Muleshoe games will be shown Saturday January 19 starting at 10 a.m. on WT Services channel 76.

Squaws 31 Dimmitt 43 The Squaws led at the end of the 3rd quarter 26-23 but the Bobbies went on a 20-5 run in the 4th. Scoring: Hicks 20, Kimbrough 6, Murphree 3, Posada 1, Miller 1.

Squaws 57 Littlefield 60 The Squaws led the Lady Cats most of the game but they came back to tie 46-46 at the end of regulation. The game went into double overtime with Littlefield escaping with a 60-57 win. Scoring: Hicks 29, Murphree 12, Miller 8, Posada 4, Kimbrough 2.

Chiefs 59 Littlefield 62 The Wildcats led 27-24 at the half. Each team scored 35 points in the 2nd half. Scoring: B. Stowers 19, C. Stowers 18, Cigarroa 13, DeWit 6, Osborn 2, Woods 1.

Chiefs 37 Dimmitt 65 Dimmitt led 37-15 at the half and continued the run in the second half at Dimmitt. Scoring: Cigarroa 9, B. Stowers 8, DeWit 7, C. Stowers 5, Osborn 4, Haile 2, Loflin 2.

The Squaws beat Abernathy Tuesday there. Their district record is now 2-5. The Chiefs lost at Abernathy. Their district record is now 1-4.
