Gipson, May, Spring, Wilkins Win Election

Results are in from the March 6th Primary Election. Ten Parmer County Offices were up for grabs in 2018 but only four had contested races. Jo Beth Gipson won re-election as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 1. Gipson received 624 votes and Ross Paiz received 87 votes. Sharon May won the race for County Treasurer. May received 974 votes and Bailey Warren Windham received 509 votes. There was no incumbent in the race. In the race for County Commissioner, Precinct 2, Charles Wilkins defeated incumbent Steve Cockerham. Wilkins garnered 219 votes while Cockerham got 167 votes. In the most closely contested race of the election, Susie Spring defeated incumbent Gerri Bowers for the office of County Clerk. Spring received 819 votes and Bowers received 699 votes.

In the races that were not contested Sandra Warren was elected as District Clerk, Trey Ellis was elected as County Judge, Deena Lucero Leuea was elected as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 2, Pamela Haseloff was elected as Justice of the Peace, Precinct 3, Casey Russell was elected as County Commissioner, Precinct 4, and Awyna Sanchez was elected as Tax Assessor-Collector.

The results still have be to certified before they become final. Also, each candidate that won on Tuesday will still have to win the November election before taking office in January 2019.
