FHS Seniors made their final stop of the 2018 Banquet Tour at the Sixth Street Church of Christ last Monday. They literally piled it on. Congratulations from the St. Teresa Catholic Church, Friona United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church, and the Sixth Street Church of Christ.

U.S. Air Force Airman Luz A. Salas graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Salas is the daughter of Gregory A. and Luz M. Salas and granddaughter of Maria L. Salas of Friona, Texas.

She is a 2017 graduate of Friona High School, Friona, Texas.

Roll-off box to open up for waste items

The City of Friona will open up the roll-off box this Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. (noon). Please come by to dump those items that don’t belong in your dumpster and do your part to help Keep Friona Clean! The roll-off box is located at East 8th and South Jackson Ave. It is a free service provided to Friona residents. Examples of items not allowed in dumpsters includes: steel and metal, mattresses and furniture, refrigerators/AC units, paint cans (with or without liquids), electronics and appliances, drums/barrels, brick, wood and concrete, railroad ties. Items not accepted in the roll-off box are tires, oil and tree limbs—to dispose of these items, please contact the City Office. Starting this month, the roll-off box will be open the first Saturday of every month between 8 a.m. and 12 p.m.
