Terri Tamm “Tammy” Hinojosa

Terri Tamm “Tammy” Hinojosa, 60, of Midland Texas, passed away after a 19-year battle with cancer on November 16, 2019. A memorial was held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Mid-Cities Community Church.

Tammy was born on March 17th, 1959 at Parmer County hospital in Friona, Texas to Linda Inman Holland and Dale Williams. Tammy grew up in Friona, Texas and graduated from Olton High School in 1977, where she was a baton twirler and played the flute. She attended classes at Eastern New Mexico University. She moved to Odessa/Midland Texas in 1980 where she began a career with Shell Pipeline. Upon the birth of two daughters, Sydney and Meredith, she became a stay at home mom until the early 2000s. In 2003 she became the Assistant Executive Director of Mission Messiah; with that she found her true calling and became the “Mission Momma” who birthed hundreds of women into the kingdom of God. She helped rescue thousands of families through heavenly council, making an eternal difference daily in her calling as a warrior of God. She met the love of her life in 2013, Herbey Hinojosa, and they were wed on November 21st, 2015. They enjoyed traveling and spending all their free time just being together.

Tammy is survived by her husband Herbey Hinojosa, and daughters Sydney Nanez and Meredith Burns and stepchildren, Andrew and Katherine Hinojosa. Her mother Linda Holland, and stepfather Jim Holland. Her sister Shelli Rose and brother-in-law Steven Rose, and 2 nieces Robyn Stevenson and Penni Chappel and 4 great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father Dale Williams.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mission Messiah.

Jesus “Jesse” Morales Sr.

Jesus “Jesse” Morales Sr., 93 of Friona passed away November 17, 2019 in Amarillo.

Celebration of Life Graveside Services will be held 1:00 P.M. Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the Friona Cemetery with Rev. Brett Hoyle, officiating. Burial with military honors following by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona and Volleys for Veterans of Amarillo.

Jesse was born September 23, 1926 in Glidden, Texas to Conception and Rosalia Maldonado Morales. He later married Janie Garza and they were married an amazing 70 years.

Jesse was a military policeman in the U.S. Army, and a clothes presser and cleaner for Gibbs Cleaners for 19 years. He loved his family, drinking coffee with them and friends, and watching sports of all kinds.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sons-Daniel Morales and David Morales, 4 brothers Albert, Conchito, Morris and Jimmy Morales, 2 sisters-Betty Torres and Mary Guerrero.

Those to carry on his legacy include his wife Janie of Friona, 2 daughters-Terry Morales and Rachel Martinez and husband Phil of Friona, 1 son-Jesse Morales Jr of Amarillo, 2 sisters-Vera Olvera and Ruperta Gonzales and husband Robert, all of Roscoe, Texas, 10 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

Helen Bailey

Celebration of Life Services for Helen Bailey, 93, a former long-time Friona resident will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 22, 2019 at Friona United Methodist Church with the Reverend Skip Hodges, pastor, officiating. Mrs. Bailey passed away Sunday, November 17, 2019, in Plainview.

Helen Anne Cole was born September 1, 1926 in Montgomery Alabama to Charles Edward and Anna Evans Ward Cole. At the age of three and a half years, the family moved to Houston. She met and fell in love with Billie Holcomb Bailey and they married on July 30, 1944 in Houston. Helen graduated from San Jacinto High School and attended Texas Women’s University. In 1950 they moved to Fort Worth and opened a Ben Franklin’s Store. They sold that store and moved to Mercedes, Texas and then to Friona in 1960 where they owned and operated a Western Auto Store. They were very active members of Friona United Methodist Church, which was their light and their refuge, through good times and bad.

The Bailey’s raised their three children in Friona where they attended schools in Friona and all went on to Texas A & M University, all graduating with Honors. In 1998, Bill and Helen moved to Amarillo to be closer to doctors. Helen loved and adored her kids, they were a source of pride and joy for her.

The legacy she leaves are her son, Bill H. Bailey, Jr. and wife Cheryle of Reading, Pennsylvania, daughters Beverly Bailey of Rio Rancho, New Mexico, and Susan Bailey of Waxahachie, Texas, and grandchildren William Gerald Bailey and Arleana Bailey, several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in dearth were her parents, brothers, Charles, James and Jack, and her husband Bill.

Mrs. Bailey’s family suggests memorials in her name be made to the Friona United Methodist Church, 305 East 8th Street, Friona, Texas or King’s Manor Methodist Retirement System, 400 Ranger, Hereford, Texas 79045.

Mildred Welch

Mildred Harkins Welch, 84 of Friona passed away November 20, 2019 in Friona. Viewing will be from 9:00 A. M. to 8:00 P.M. with family visitation from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home Thursday November 21, 2019 with a Celebration of Life Memorial Service scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 23, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Friona with Rev. Ellis Parson and Rev. Brett Hoyle, officiating. Arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Mildred Lafern was born June 27, 1935 in Carnegie Oklahoma to Finley Beckham and Nola Mildred Millwee Harkins. Mildred grew up with two older brothers Leon and Earl. Mildred gave her life to Jesus and was baptized at age 11. Mildred graduated from Plainview High School in 1952.

Mildred married Royce Gene Welch on June 29, 1952 and the couple lived in several locations before settling in the Friona area in 1956 to farm.

Gene and Mildred were members of Summerfield Baptist Church for over 60 years. Mildred served the church as the church clerk from 1973 to current. She was a very dedicated member who had served in all capacities such as Sunday School teacher, GA leader, VBS director, along with serving on various boards and offices.

Mildred was a member of the Black Study Club (formerly the Black Home Demonstration Club). She also served the club in every office multiple times. Lifelong friends and families were made!!

Mildred is remembered for always being a kind, generous and loving Christian wife, mom and grandma. She enjoyed working in the yard and caring for her home. Mildred was the perfect farm wife. She was a true servant in every way.

Survivors include three children, Veca Masters and her husband James, Kevin and wife Linda, and Varla and her husband Terry all of Friona; 11 grandchildren, Vacresia Salyer and husband Greg of Shallowater LaTawn White of Midland, Vanette Barnett and her husband Todd of Amarillo, V’Lynda Barnett and her husband Kevin of Perryton, V’Laura Sundlie and husband Justin of Ozark, MO, V’Lesha Pelton and her husband Raymond of San Angelo, Tolby Wilcox and his wife Jenny of Lubbock, Kelsey Welch of Amarillo, Katy Welch of Friona, Dillon Welch and wife Ariana of Seminole, and Duncan Welch and his wife Ariel of Lubbock. Great-grandchildren Mason, Gage, Liam, Gene, Maddison, Ellis, Kitzy, Valeigh, Bryce, Aubrey, Easton, Palmer, McCoy, Slaton, Parker, Marlee, Peyton, Paxton, Avah and Mavrick. Also, by two sisters- in-law, Carleta Harkins of Hereford and Paula Welch of Amarillo.
