Beat the heat!!! Purchase your Cheeseburger Festival wristbands early and skip the waiting line on Saturday. Go by the Chamber of Commerce at 621 Main and purchase your $7 wristband in advance. The fee includes; one wristband, a bag of chips, and a Frisbee plate. The wristband is designed with 4 tear-off tabs (1/4 burger each tab) so you can go around and sample up to 4 different cheeseburger entrees. The various cooking teams will tear off the tabs according to your order.

Be sure to catch the Summer Drama Workshop presentations this week. The high school cast will perform “The Imaginary Invalid” at 7 p.m. on Thursday. The junior high cast will perform”Law and Order: Fairy Tale Unit - Episode 2” at 6 p.m. on Friday. The elementary school cast will perform “The Adventures of a Comic Book Artist” at 3 p.m. on Saturday. All performances will be held in the high school auditorium.

The 11th Annual Pudge Kendrick Memorial Golf Tournament will be held July 27-28 at John Pitman Golf Course in Hereford. The tourney benefits the Parmer County and Hereford Cancer Coalitions. The Friona Chieftain Football Camp will be held at Friona High School from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on July 22nd through 24th. The camp is offered for 3rd-8th grade kids. The fee is $20 to attend the camp. Registration forms can be picked up at FHS or the FISD building. You can also go to www.frionaonline.com and click on the forms tab to view and print the form.

The Friona Public Library is currently accepting applications for their Library Director. Those interested in applying for the Friona Public Library Director job must complete an employee application, provide a cover letter and resume before the July 26, 2019 deadline. The Friona City Pool is offering swimming lessons, water aerobics, and pool party rentals. They are open Tuesday–Saturday and their regular hours are 1 p.m. - 5 p.m., swimming lessons from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m., and party/water aerobics hours 6 p.m. - 7 p.m.

The 2019 Friona Squaws Summer Sports Camps will be held from 8:00 a.m. till Noon on July 23-25 (basketball) and July 29-31 (volleyball).
