Ribbon Cutting — Hereford City Commissioner Deven Black invited the Friona Star to attend the Ribbon Cutting for the new multi-million dollar John Bunch Sports Complex in Hereford on Saturday, March 29th. Mayor Cathy Bunch cut the ribbon for the new facility which features 4 baseball fields covered entirely in field turf. Over 1,000 Hereford residents attended the event. Caviness Beef Packers Company served free hamburgers to all attendees. Deven is a 1994 FHS graduate and former Friona resident. He and his wife, Melissa, live and work in Hereford. Melissa also works in the lab at Parmer Medical Center.
Welcome to Friona — Dr. Andrew Banuelos is the newest member of the Parmer Medical Center staff. During his first weeks in Friona he attended the Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet, worked through a major wind storm with power outages, and was honored at the recent Doctor’s Day reception. In the upcoming weeks, the Friona Star will introduce and re-introduce all our great first responders who serve our community and county.
Prairie News — Sandra Beavers is the Prairie Acres Resident of the Month for April. The Employee of the Month for April is A.J. London. She works in the Nursing department and has been on staff since June of 2024.

Legacy Pointe News — The next Bingo Night is Tuesday, April 15th. The fun, including snacks and prizes, will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the dining room at Legacy Pointe located at 1500 N. Main. Legacy served around 45 attendees at their 4th Annual St. Patrick’s Dinner on Tuesday, March 18th. 45 also happened to be the wind speed that afternoon and evening as a north front blew into the area.
