Ignacia Reyes Bermea

Ignacia Reyes Bermea, 71 of Bovina passed away April 21, 2025 in Amarillo. Viewing will be held from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM Friday April 25, 2025 in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Celebration of Life Services set for 10:00 AM Saturday April 26, 2025 at Crossroads Community Church of Bovina with Eleazar Lara, officiating. Burial following in the Bovina Cemetery entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Ignacia was born July 31, 1953, in Progreso, Texas to Constantino and Juana Maria Arias Reyes. She later married Macario Bermea on August 18, 1970. Ignacia was known as a very strong, happy and giving woman that loved to help people. Her faith in God got her through many hard times and loved to listen to Christian music. She was kind and inviting to everyone and loved to help those in need. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends, especially for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Preceding her in death were her parents-Constantino and Juana, 1 son-Mike Bermea and 2 grandchildren-Olivia Castillo and Justin Angel Salazar.

Those to mourn her passing include her husband-Macario Bermea of Dimmitt, 2 daughters-Hilaria Bermea of Farwell, and Tina Espinoza and husband Angel of Friona, 2 sons-David Bermea and wife Carla of Clovis, and Raul Bermea and wife Lupita of Clinton, Oklahoma, sisters-Irma Turley, Isabel Espinoza, Maria Reyes, Anita Reyes, Eliza Espinoza, Gloria Reyes, Juanita Carrizales and Raquel Reyes, brothers-Jose Angel Reyes, Rosendo Reyes, Juan Reyes, Constantino Reyes Jr., and Ray Reyes, 18 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren.

Patricia L. Holland

Patricia L. Holland, 87, of Friona, Texas passed away on Monday, April 14, 2025 in Amarillo, Texas. Services will be held at a later time. Cremation arrangements by Steed-Todd Funeral Home in Clovis, New Mexico.

Pat was born on August 3, 1937 to Thomas and Dorothy Throckmorton of Grove City, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Grove City High School and then went to college at Slippery Rock State College to study nursing. She graduated from nursing school and became a Registered Nurse.

Pat met James D. Holland at a hospital in San Francisco, California and they married on September 8, 1961. She continued her nursing career at various hospitals, clinics, and volunteered at Senior centers. Jim and Pat moved to Friona in 1985.

Pat retired at age 70 from Excel Friona after working as the charge nurse for several years. She continued to help and care for others in the Friona Community through home hospice and spending time at the Senior Center in Friona. She enjoyed traveling and her favorite hobby was knitting.

Pat is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Holland, who passed away in 1991 in the Parmer County Community Hospital.

Pat is survived by a son, Steven J. Holland; daughter-in-law, Judy Holland; grandson, Steven J. Holland Jr.; and many nieces and nephews from surviving in-laws.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the staff at Parmer Medical Center and the staff at BSA in Amarillo who helped care for Pat in her last days.

Arnold Louis Schueler

Arnold Louis Schueler, 92 of Friona, formerly of the Rhea Community passed away Wednesday, April 16, 2025 in Friona. Celebration of Life Memorial Services will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Arnold was born February 22, 1933 in his home in Rhea to Robert Henry and Anna Gallmier Schueler. Arnold’s love for music began at an early age and his piano teacher in Friona felt he had a gift in music that should be developed and she encouraged Arnold’s parents to pursue a higher level of music instruction for him. Beginning in 1945 at the age of 12 to nearly 16 years old, Arnold was taken to Friona every Saturday morning by his dad, to board a Greyhound bus to Amarillo where he would spend the day studying and playing music at the Musical Arts Conservatory and return home in the evening. While studying at the Conservatory, Arnold was the winner of a young Artist Competition in Amarillo and appeared as piano soloist with the Amarillo Symphony.

Arnold attended Friona Schools but graduated with a high school degree from St. John College in Winfield, Kansas. The institution consisted of both a two-year college and four- year high school academy. From St. John’s college, he transferred to Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois for one year of music study.

After serving 21 months in the United Stated Army during the Korean War as Chaplain’s Assistant (11 months in Seoul, Korea), Arnold returned to civilian life and completed music studies. He received his BS degree from the University of Texas in 1958. Soon after, he began graduate work at North Texas State University and received his Masters of Music Degree. He began post-graduate study on a doctorate degree at Texas Women’s University in Denton, but did not complete this level of music study.

Arnold resided almost all of his life in Dallas where he taught music in the Dallas Public School system for grades 5-8. He also taught private piano and organ lessons from his home while serving as organist of numerous churches in the Dallas area. He remained active as an organist for churches up to the age of 88. He moved from Dallas to a Senior Independent living facility in Amarillo in January 2024 and then made his final move to Prairie Acres Nursing Home in Friona in March of 2025.

Arnold is preceded in death by his parents- Robert and Anna Schueler, 4 brothers-Raymond, Norbert, Floyd, and Robert Jr., 2 sisters-Elenor Meissner, and Irene Graham.

Survivors include a sister-in-law- Glenda Schueler of Amarillo, and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
