Joe Bill Jones, 73, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025 at his home in Brookeland, Texas. His wife Pam was at his side. A family directed memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at the Friona Methodist Church.
Joe Bill was born January 9, 1952 in Friona to R.W. (Bob) Jones and Ouida Shaffer Jones. He was a Friona High School graduate, Class of 1970. His academic pursuits after leaving Friona took him to Tarrant County Junior College where he received an Associate Degree as well as earning credit hours at Stephen F. Austin University and the University of Houston. In 1975, he was accepted into a two-year Apprentice Program in Ocularistry at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. Joe Bill successfully completed certification requirements for the making and fitting of artificial eyes and set up his first lab at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock.
Over the next several years his professional and vocational pursuits included returning to Friona to farm, working as quality control supervisor for an outdoor recreation equipment manufacturer, and serving as an investigator with the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. As Joe Bill turned sixty he completed a Master of Science Degree in Engineering Technology from West Texas A&M University.
Joe Bill was an avid fan of Texas’ major league baseball teams and that football team in Dallas. He enjoyed nice restaurants and good food; golfing with Pam; fishing; reading, especially historical works; and games of chance.
Those surviving Joe Bill are his wife of 25 years, Pam; his daughter, Blaire and husband Richie Herring of Friona; his son, Hayes and wife Heather Jones of Seminole; his mother Ouida Jones of Friona; and brother Jim Bob and wife Teddy Jones of Friona. He is also survived by 2 step-children, 5 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, and 5 wonderful first cousins.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Jones.

Billy Ray Perkins, 76, passed away March 17, 2025 at his home in Cisco, Texas. A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. at the Friona Cemetery. The 10th Street Church of Christ will host a meal for family and attendees from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. at the church prior to the service.
Billy was born July 20, 1948 in Friona, Texas to Richard and Lillie Mae Perkins. He went to school in Friona, Texas and graduated from Friona High school in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army as an E-5 Specialist 5th Class. He worked various jobs around Friona and worked with his father in his plumbing business.
Billy enjoyed riding his bike and took a 7,000 mile bike tour of the U.S., staying in a motel only one time during his trip. On a shorter bike excursion he discovered the small town of Putnam where he found a place he wanted to make home and then later moved to Cisco where he found a community and a way of life that he enjoyed.
Billy had a strong work ethic that he carried throughout his life. He was well known for helping family, friends, and neighbors with home chores and improvements that needed to be done. He was always a perfectionist with any job he did. He was also known for sharing his delicious home baked goodies.
He is survived by one brother - Bobby Perkins and wife Dianne of Bushland, Texas; four sisters - Linda Pate of Amarillo, Texas; Anita White and husband Larry of Lubbock, Texas; Angela Novak of Lake City, Florida; and Alisa Riethmayer and husband Brent of Caldwell, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his parents - Richard and Lillie Mae Perkins, and one brother - James Perkins.
