Frances was born on October 1, 1948 to Ysac and Guadelupe Alvarado in San Juan, TX. She worked as a migrant worker with her parents and siblings until the age of 15. Traveling for work with her family as a young girl, she never lost her love for travel, moving from one place to another until she met her future husband Reynaldo Gonzalez in Hereford TX. Together they moved to Friona 1967 and married in 1968. They made Friona their home and spent the rest of their lives there.

Frances had 5 children and worked at the Junior high cafeteria for the Friona Independent School District until her retirement in 1993. She enjoyed watching not only her children but also the many children pass while working there. She loved her children and grandchildren, joining them for any activity she could, learning right alongside them. An enthusiast for education, she attended night classes to learn to read and write English. A skill that later in life would allow her to help immigrant workers obtain their citizenship. She never stopped learning for her whole life, using any opportunity she could to educate herself or take classes.

Frances was creative and skilled in any craft she picked up. From ceramics to painting, singing and dancing, she loved it all. She was especially known for her sewing ability, even making some of her children’s school clothes and grandchildren’s costumes. Her favorite pastimes were canning, listening to music, sewing, and quilting with her grandchildren and spending time with her friends. Frances also loved taking care of her beloved fur babies.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Her siblings Hilario, Juana, Isaac, Rigberto, Rigoberta, Laurencencia and Esteban. Her children Rachel and Jesus Gonzalez.
