Ricardo Rojas Cervantes

Ricardo Rojas Cervantes, 71, of Bovina passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, in La Parrilla, Durango, Mexico. Viewing was held Sunday June 21, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Ron Smiley Memorial Chapel of the funeral home, and from 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM with Rosary Services at 6:00 PM Monday June 22, 2026 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Bovina. Mass of Christian Burial Services was held at 10:00 AM Tuesday June 23, 2026 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina with Father Nick Gerber as Celebrant. Burial followed in the Bovina Cemetery entrusted to HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

He was born on April 3, 1955, in La Parrilla, Durango, Mexico to Andres Rojas and Consuelo Cervantes Rojas. He lived a life filled with love, hard work, laughter, and devotion to his family and friends. Ricardo made his home in Bovina, Texas, beginning on May 25, 1993. He was a dedicated employee of Cargill in Friona, Texas, where he worked faithfully for 20 years. Through his strong work ethic and kind-hearted nature, he earned the respect and friendship of many throughout his career.

Ricardo was known for his love of cooking outdoors, making chicharrones, carnitas, asado, and discadas; listening to music, playing poker, socializing, and bringing people together. He enjoyed hosting family gatherings and spending time with those he loved. His warm personality and welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home. More than anything, Ricardo cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

He is preceded in death by his sister Margarita Alvarado, his parents Andres and Consuelo Rojas, and his mother-in-law Matilde Fernandez.

He is survived by his beloved wife and lifelong partner of 41 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Rojas; his three sons, Ricardo Rojas and wife Juanita, David Rojas and wife Stefanie, and Christian Rojas and wife Ester.

He also leaves behind eight cherished grandchildren: Aracely Rojas, Jaiven Rojas, Aziah Rojas, Jazlynn Rojas, Aryanna Rojas, Adan Rojas, Noah Rojas, and Evander Rojas; and one precious great-granddaughter, Sofia Rojas. Also, his siblings Eustolia Rojas, Yolanda Rojas, Maria de la Luz Rojas, Esperanza Rojas, Nicolas Rojas Cervantes, Rodolfo Rojas Cervantes, Estevan Rojas Cervantes, and Andres Rojas Cervantes.

Ricardo’s legacy of love, generosity, and dedication to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched.
