Gabriel Chico breaks out of the pack on the way to one of his four touchdowns vs. Dimmitt. Chico carried six times for 298 yards and four touchdowns. He was recognized by the Amarillo Globe-News as the 4A-3A Player of the Week. The Chiefs beat Dimmitt 53-0.

Want to buy some chiles? Cold weather might be coming soon. It was 35 degrees Tuesday morning. The Friona High School FCCLA is selling chiles as a fundraiser. Jars of red chile sauce, bags of cut green chile, and jars of jalapeno jelly are available. Check out the letter to the editor from Emily Stowers on page 2 for details.

PMC participating in Ebola preparedness

Parmer Medical Center (PMC) is aware of the current cases of Ebola. PMX has been participating in conference calls and webinars with officials from the Texas Department of State Health Services and Centers for Disease Control CDC). PMC also receives frequent alerts, updates, and guidelines for Ebola published by these agencies.

Symptoms of Ebola include but are not limited to: headache, fever greater than 101.5 degrees orally, weakness, muscle pain, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or hemorrhage. These symptoms, along with a known exposure or a recent travel history to Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and some parts of Nigeria in Western Africa, need to be evaluated. A recent travel history is defined as travel within the last 21 days. (more...)

Morton wins with 10 correct

Week 6 of the Friona Star Football Contest had more twists and turns than Lombard Street in San Francisco. Iowa Park snuck up on Dalhart and won 28-26. Auburn had a hard time with Mississippi State losing 38-23. Chicago and Dallas overcame deficits to emerge winners while Carolina and Cincinnati had matching field goals to end the game in a tie, 37-37. (more...)

Chiefs smash Dimmitt 53-0

It was a breakout night for the Friona Chieftains as they demolished the Dimmitt Bobcats 53-0 with 424 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Ten Chieftains carried the ball during the game. (more...)
