Town Talk

Friona was rocked this week with the tragic death of one of our beloved teachers and friends, Jenny Riethmayer. Jenny was loved by all who knew her and we will miss her terribly. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

Peggy Padilla won the Guess That Man Contest in last week’s Friona Star. She correctly guessed Andy Alexander as being the man in the picture. She wins a free one-year subscription to the Friona Star. We had a number of guesses from Alan Humberg to Brett Hoyle to Ron Carr. Kip Frye (who has a subscription) called in early Friday morning but was not eligible for the subscription. He said he couldn’t have missed that it was Alexander. They went to school together. Congratulations Peggy!

If you liked this promotion, give me a call and I will see what I can come up with for the next free subscription.

Residents are reminded to lock your doors and when you are away from home make sure your home looks lived in. Have a neighbor, relative or friend check your home in you absence. Don’t post that you are going out of town on social media…thieves can read too. Keep your home safe while you are home and away by thinking smart. Contact the Friona Police Department or the Parmer County Sheriff’s Office for tips on keeping your home safe.
