Work has already begun for a new business coming to Friona. Family Dollar is in the process of building a store at 809 W. 11th. The pictures above and to the right show the removal of old concrete and site preparation for new construction.

The Friona Star would like to remind everyone that we are always accepting ‘What Friona Means to Me’ stories for the newspaper. We have enjoyed seeing the different perspectives of Friona residents, the histories and memories from young to old. Every tale is precious, so please feel free to share or encourage friends and family to share what Friona means to you. FCCLA Extends Gratitude to the Community

Celebrate FCCLA Week February 12-16. The members of FCCLA want to express their appreciation for this community. Without you, our efforts are meaningless. We want you to know what we have been up to this 2017-2018 school year; We currently have 35 members, we plan to go to Odessa for Regionals on March 1-3 and those who advance will go to State in Dallas on April 4-7. This year we had freshman recruitment, recognized cafeteria employees, hosted a hospitality room for Veteran’s day, did UIL Debate and Chieftain Scholars, had a birthday party for Larry Gonzales (our bus driver who survived cancer), enjoyed new foods on International Day, and competed at the Tri-State Fair.
