Guadalupe Reyes Sr.

Guadalupe Reyes Sr. 75 of Friona passed away Thursday June 14, 2018 in Amarillo. Rosary Services have been scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Friday, June 15, 2018 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Friona with Mass of Christian Burial Services scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, June 16, 2018 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Friona with Father Nestor Lara as Celebrant. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Guadalupe was born January 28, 1943 in Mexico to Roberto and Blaza Marquez Reyes. He later married Socorro Molina November 26, 1966.

He was a 20 year employee of Cargill Meat Solutions and prior owners of the Friona meat packing plant. He loved to spend time with his family, and dance. He was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church in Friona.

He is preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister-Cornelia Montaño.

Those to carry on his legacy include his wife Socorro Reyes of Friona, 1 daughter-Rosa Roman of Friona, 3 sons-Guadalupe Reyes Jr. of Hereford, Francisco Reyes and Oscar Reyes of Friona, 1 brother-Adolfo Reyes of Amarillo, 5 sisters-Isabel Quezada and Carolina Franco of Roswell, N.M., Margarita Espinoza of San Antonio, Maria Claudio of Hereford and Maria Lopez of Friona, 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Martha Mae Shelton

Funeral Services for Martha Mae Shelton, 88, a long-time Friona resident will be held Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of Friona with Reverend Kathy McLean-Davis, pastor of First United Methodist Church of Trenton, Texas, and Reverend Skip Hodges, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow in Friona Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Shelton passed away Monday, June 18, 2018 in Amarillo. There will be a viewing Wednesday, June 20, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Friona. 

Martha Mae Green was born August 18, 1929 in Hobart, Oklahoma to Jess L. and Bertha M. (Barnett) Green. Martha graduated from Snyder High School in 1947 and from St. Anthony’s School of Nursing in Oklahoma in 1950. In 1952, Martha married Tom Pruett in Poteau, Oklahoma they later moved to Friona, Texas in 1955 from Snyder, Oklahoma. She worked at PCCH and for Dr. Paul Spring for 40 years. Martha married Ralph Shelton in 2000. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Friona.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Tom Pruett and Ralph Shelton; and one brother, Elbert Green.

She is survived by her two daughters, Melissa Randolph and husband Tom from Friona, and Priscilla Chrysler and husband Don of Amarillo; her twin sister, Ellen Fae Greenwood of Maryland; two grandchildren, J’Mae Randolph of Lubbock and T.J. Randolph of Austin; and three great-grandchildren, Konnor, Kynzlee Mae, and James.

The family suggests Memorials be made in Mrs. Shelton’s honor to the First United Methodist Church of Friona, 301 E. 8th St. Friona, Texas 79035.

Judy Cummings

Judy Cummings, formerly of Friona, Texas, passed away on June 15, 2018 at Garland Serenity Home in Garland, Texas. Viewing will be from 1 PM until 8 PM Sunday, June 17th at Hansard Funeral Home in Friona.  Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 18th at 6th Street Church of Christ in Friona, Texas with Jeff Procter, minister, officiating. Burial will follow at Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Ruby Jewell Cassady was born in Quitaque, Texas on August 8, 1926 to the parentage of Carey A. and Emma Simeon Smith Cassady. She graduated from Farwell High School in 1943. She married Marvin Doyle Cummings on September 22, 1945 and they established their home in Friona, Texas. She was honored to be a “stay-at-home mom” until 1964 when she became the receptionist at Cummings Farm Store in Friona. Later, she became a New York Life insurance agent and served the needs of community members until 2011. She served several terms as president of the Underwriters Association. Judy served her church and community with roles such as VBS teacher, PTA president, scout den leader, historical society, cemetery association, art association and enjoyed teaching Friona school children about her days working for the railroad. She enjoyed oil painting and taking as many pictures as possible of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as beautiful scenery from many trips to the Sangre de Cristo mountains in New Mexico. She saw beauty all around her in nature and the faces of family and friends.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Doyle Cummings, parents Carey A. and Emma Cassady, brothers R.A. Cassady and Phil Cassady, sister Dorothy Pruitt, sisters-in-law Marcella Cassady, Rose Cassady and Sue Stark Hallmark, brothers-in-law John Pruitt and Wayne B. Stark, parents-in-law Ennis and Jewell Cummings, nephew Carey Cassady, and grandson, Toby Ferguson.

She is survived by her four children and their spouses including Scott and Donna Cummings of Lubbock, Kirk and Karen Cummings of Rio Vista, Texas, Booney and Lisa Gonzales of Azle, Texas and Gary and Terri Zerfas of Rockwall, Texas. She is survived by seven grandchildren including Kyle Cummings and wife, Brandi of Wimberly, Texas, Joe Ferguson and wife, Kristen, of Plano, Texas, Brent Bumpas and wife, Shannon, of Forney, Texas, John-Paul Gonzales and wife, Shae, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Elana Novali and fiancé, Timothy Bell of Mayer, Arizona, Eli Gonzales and fiancé, Terrilynn LeNoir of Alvarado, Texas, Jake Zerfas and wife, Holly, of Rockwall, Texas and Cassie Gonzales of Azle, Texas. She is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren including Zack, Kaden and Rylan Cummings, Connor and Corrie Ferguson, Ethan, Dylan and Beckham Bumpas, Kadence Latham, Laken Gonzales, Abigail Gonzales, Gabriel Evans, Ashton Clarke, Payton Sullivan, Paige Floutin, and Adelyn Zerfas. She is survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren including Kyle Cummings, Brent Bumpas, John-Paul Gonzales, Elana Novali, Eli Gonzales, Jake Zerfas, and Cassie Gonzales.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.

The family of Judy Cummings expresses deep gratitude to the owners and staff of Garland Serenity Home where Judy moved in June 2017. She was treated with the utmost in physical care in a beautiful home setting. More importantly, her caretakers loved her every day and welcomed our family at any time. Thank you to the owners, Aaron and Adela Floarea, Haydee Simental, Narcis and Ruxi Badea, Dan and Nicole Manoila, Stacey and Francine Pence. Philip Thomas Hilton

Philip Thomas Hilton, 39, of Fort Worth, left his earthly body on June 16, 2018.

A celebration of life will be held at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church, 1100 S. Harrison St., Amarillo. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. 

Philip was born on December 28, 1978 as the oldest son of Philip and Robbie Hilton. 

Philip embraced life as an opportunity to find fun and adventure in every moment and to embrace every day with love and kindness. God brought Philip and Ashlee (Hunt) together 15 years ago and they were married July 8, 2006.  They have spent their life together with lots of laughter, making memories and building a family.

Philip was a fan of the great outdoors, good music, Ranger Baseball and Red Raider Football. Philip loved spending time with his family, especially skiing and fishing.  Philip was a brother, son, uncle and friend to many. Philip’s most favorite role was being a daddy to his boys, Knox Lawrence, and Nash Thomas Hilton. He enjoyed making his boys laugh and starting the occasional kitchen dance party. Philip worked many years in the Communications Field. Philip lived his life in a way that sends the message to always be a little kinder than necessary in all situations.

Philip will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. 

He was preceded in death by his mother in law, Terry Hunt; brother in law, Miles Liston; grandparents, Lelton and Dorothy Hilton; and grandfather, Robert E. Cherry.

Philip leaves behind his wife, Ashlee; sons, Knox and Nash of Fort Worth, TX; parents, Robbie and Philip Hilton of Lubbock, TX; his siblings, Hayley Hilton Liston of Amarillo, TX; two nieces, Elizabeth and Olivia Liston, of Amarillo, TX; Jacob Hilton and wife Kristina of Golden, CO; Rachael Kemp and husband Bryan of Wellington, TX; father in law, Chris Hunt of Friona, TX; brother in law, Keith Hunt of Amarillo, TX; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to First National Bank of Friona, c/o Hilton Boys Scholarship Fund, 710 W. 11st St., Friona, Tx 79035 or any Happy State Bank location, c/o Knox and Nash Hilton Scholarship Fund.
