Valoris Osborn

Valoris Osborn, 98 of Amarillo, formerly of Friona passed away July 9, 2018 in Amarillo. Celebration of Life Graveside Services have been scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 13, 2018 at the Friona Cemetery in Friona with Rev. Skip Hodges, pastor of the Friona United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial following by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Valoris was born October 17, 1919 in Forgan, Oklahoma to James L. and Corrine Simmons Shaffer. In 1928, she moved to Friona, Texas and made Friona her home until moving to Amarillo just a few years ago.

While in Friona, she married Ernest Osborn on May 3, 1942. After graduation from college, she became a home economics teacher for the Friona I.S.D. Valoris was a very active member of the Friona United Methodist Church where she taught the Friendship Class for 50 years and was a member of the Methodist Women. She also was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, the Hospital Auxiliary, the Modern Study Club, Sr. Club at the Friona State Bank/Interbank, and Girl Scout leader. She loved to quilt, sew and shop.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and 1 sister-Ruby Bainum.

Those to carry on her legacy include 1 daughter-Karen Renner and husband Gary of Amarillo, 1 son- Dr. Joel C. Osborn and wife Carlene and 1 sister-Ouida Jones, all of Amarillo, 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
