The Friends of the Library Book Shoppe will be open Saturday morning from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. for everyone shopping Christmas in Friona this weekend. Normal hours are Wednesday afternoons from 3:00 p.m.till 5:30 p.m. You may bring donations of good quality used books once again, but please step into the book shop and visit with Mrs. Slagle before unloading them. The book shop is located at 119 West 6th. Books sell for one dollar per bag. All proceeds benefit Friends of the Library projects.

The Annual Community Thanksgiving Service will be held on Sunday, November 24th at 6:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Friona located at 404 W. 5th. This special community service is hosted by Friona Christian Ministries, and is an uplifting time of worshipping the Lord Jesus as a community of believers. A special offering will be taken which will be used throughout the year to help people in our community with basic needs. Everyone is invited to attend this Christian worship service and there will also be a time of fellowship immediately following the service.

The Christian Mothers Society of Holy Family Catholic Parish will hold their annual Turkey Dinner & Raffle on Sunday, November 24th from 11:00 a.m. till 2:00 p.m. in the Community Hall located at 104 First Street in Nazareth, Texas. Adult plates are $10 and $5 for children 10 years old and younger . Turkey and dressing with all the trimmings, and homemade desserts will be served. St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Pep, Texas will host their 74th annual Thanksgiving Festival on Thanksgiving Day, November 28th at St. Philip Neri Parish Hall. Pep’s famous German sausage, turkey, dressing and all the trimmings will be served from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Adult plates will cost $12 and $6 for children age 6 and under. Cash or checks only.
