Parmer County Retired Teachers and School Personnel will meet at 12:00 noon on Tuesday, September 10th at the home of Sue Wells, two miles north of Friona on Highway 214. County school administrators will join retirees for a Fiesta Pile-On luncheon. All members and new retirees are encouraged to attend.

The FHS Activity Center will be the site of the annual Border Bash Volleyball Tournament to be held on Thursday, August 29th and Saturday, August 31st. Junior High, C, and Junior Varsity teams from around the area will compete in the two-day event. Three matches can be played simultaneously so attendees can witness a lot of volleyball in a short period of time.

Maize Days is just around the corner! Friona Fiesta is the theme this year. The Miss Friona & Little Miss Friona event will be held on Saturday, September 7 starting at 6:00 p.m. in the FHS Auditorium. There will be 13 Miss Friona contestants and 17 Little Miss Friona contestants this year. Details in next week’s paper.

The Parmer County Steak Dinner is set for Saturday, September 7, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at the XIT community center in Bovina. The steak dinner is a fundraiser to support the students who show at the Parmer County Stock show. Tickets are $100.00 each for two people. The Friona Volunteer Fire Department is selling tickets for their annual Maize Days Drawing. The prize this year is a UTV and Trailer. Tickets are $10 each and can be purchased from any member of the fire department. The drawing will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 14 in the city park.
