World War II Air Force veteran Kenneth Neill salutes during the playing of the National Anthem at the high school Veterans Day program. Veterans, families, and friends filled the gym for a musical salute to veterans by the band, high school choir, and elementary choir. Veterans were introduced by assistant principal Erika Montana. Several students recited tributes to the veterans.

Town Talk II

Eleven-twelve-thirteen. They say lots of couples got married on 11-12-13 and it will be 100 years before another 11-12-13. The date this week (Tuesday) brought freezing temperatures to the area with a smattering of rain and some frost on windshields. Guess we got a hint of winter. (more...)

The Last Election: Friona lost the county seat bid

Once in awhile someone not well versed in Parmer County History will ask why the county seat is in Farwell. One can read Parmer County histories published in 1974 and 1981 to find the details of the move from Parmerton to Farwell in 1907, and one can hear many “legends” passed down through the generations concerning this election.
