E.R. Watson

E.R. Watson, 83, of Friona, died Thursday in Friona. Funeral Services were held Saturday, April 5, 2014 at the 6th St. Church of Christ in Friona with Cary Wade Watson, Kyle Ray Watson, Van Scott Watson and Jay Don Poindexter, officiating. Burial followed in the Friona Cemetery under the direction of Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona.

Mr. Watson was born January 23, 1931 in Dalhart, Texas to Ector Ray Watson Sr. and Edith Windham Watson. He married Mary Anne Pruitt February 18, 1957 in Ft. Stockton . He retired in 1990 as a maintenance supervisor for Firestone Tire Company. As a member of the Church of Christ he ministered in several small churches and also in prison ministry because he loved his Lord above all. He was a great woodworker and builder and loved camping.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lydia Riney and one brother Barton Timothy Watson.

Survivors include his wife of Friona; three sons, Cary Wade Watson and wife Carmen, of Abilene, Kyle Ray Watson and wife Julie, of LaPace, Louisiana, and Van Scott Watson and wife Shelley, of Clyde, Texas; one daughter, Lisa Reed and husband Thomas of Friona; one sister, Vida Faye Hodges and husband Delmon, of Ft. Stockton; and eleven grandchildren.

Carlos Moreno

Carlos Moreno, 29, of Bovina, died Saturday in Bovina. Rosary services were held Monday, April 7, 2014 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina. Mass of Christian Burial Services were held Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Bovina with Rev. Anthony Swamy Aakula as Celebrant. Burial followed in the Bovina Cemetery under the direction of Blackwell-Mullins Funeral Home of Friona.

Carlos was born May 6, 1984 in Muleshoe, Texas to Guadalupe Ibarra Moreno and Maria Herrera Rueda Ibarra. He was a grocery store stocker, loved cars, music, dogs and people, but he especially loved babysitting his nieces.

He is preceded in death by his grandparents.

Survivors include his parents of Bovina, and one sister Sandra Moreno Castanon of Friona.
