Urschel Perkins

Urschel Perkins, 80, of Hooker, OK, passed away Thursday evening, March 31, 2016 at the Oklahoma Heart Hospital in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

The 9th child out of five sons and three daughters of Audie Wade and Nettie Lee (Suggs) Perkins, Percy Urschel Perkins was born September 15, 1935 in Trousdale, Oklahoma.

Urschel and Iva Jo Brooks were united in marriage on October 1, 1955 in Friona, Texas. To this union, three daughters were born: Sue, Candy & Teresa. The family moved to the panhandle area in 1968 from Hereford, Texas. Urschel worked as a custom harvester and farmer for many years, retiring in 2010.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Audie and Nettie Perkins; brothers: Bill, Cass and Randall; and sisters, Mildred and Melba.

Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Iva Perkins of the home; three daughters: Sue and husband, Spot Farley of Hooker, Candy Sharkey of Guymon and Teresa and husband, Bill Rhodes of Ardmore, Oklahoma; eight grandchildren: Michael Brown, Barbara Benton, Erica Sharkey, Kevin Sharkey, Brandon Rhodes, Brittney Spears, Rory Farley and Kylie Puckett; nine great grandchildren: Kyle Benton, Emmy and Elly Brown, Payton and Lucas Sharkey, Cooper Rhodes, Sophia Farley and Harper and Lincoln Puckett; two brothers: Richard Perkins of Amarillo, Texas and Murray Perkins of Naperville, Illinois; one sister, Inez Bratcher of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives. He is loved and will be missed by all.

Graveside funeral services were conducted April 5 at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon with his grandson, Michael Brown officiating. Services were under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
