The drawing will be held on Monday, December 18 for winners at each participating business. There will also be a grand prize of $100 in Friona Bucks.

Participating businesses are A-1 Service Center, Bi-Wize Pharmacy, Blackburn Hardware, Fast Stop, H&R Block, Hunan Star II, Ivy Cottage Flowers & Gifts, Kendrick Oil/Farm Store, KrafTee Gallery, Lowes Supermarket #3, Malouf’s Fabrics, Milk House Market, Tasty Cream, and Vet Industries.

Project Christmas Card sponsored by the Parmer County Hospital Auxiliary has started collecting donations to benefit Parmer Medical Center. Canisters can be found in local businesses. The donations will go to purchase a much-needed GlideScope, which is a portable video laryngoscope that is used on critical patients for inserting a breathing tube. Donations can be made at Friona InterBank. Deadline for donations is Saturday, December 16.

The Empty Stocking Fund provides clothes and a toy to local needy children as determined by school officials. Donations can be taken to Friona InterBank or co-chairpersons Holly Campbell and Jyl Grimsley.

Adopt a Resident! It is a wonderful time of the year when we all have the opportunity to bring joy a Christmas to the local elderly residents at Prairie Acres. If you would like to Adopt a Resident, please contact the Activity Department at (806) 250-3922 and talk to Elizabeth or Yvette.

The Chamber is sponsoring Christmas in the Park on December 4 in the City Park starting at 4:30 p.m. with the arrival of Santa escorted by Miss Friona Brooklynne Johnston and Little Miss Friona Abigail Guerra. Santa will be available to hear all the children’s wishes until 6:30 p.m. when the Christmas Parade of Lights begins. Vendors will be in the park during Christmas in the Park.

Local churches, businesses, organizations and youth groups will decorate the City Park for the season. Adopt a Tree by calling the Chamber of Commerce (806) 250-3491. There will be two contests this year. All school related entries will be in the running for the Traveling Tomahawk Trophy. All other entries will be in vying for the Traveling Christmas Trophy. Those attending Christmas in the Park will get to vote for their favorite tree by donating canned goods that evening. The Chamber will weigh the boxes and then take them to the Calvary Baptist Church. All donations will remain in Friona.

The Friona Chamber of Commerce and the Parmer County Sheriff’s Office sponsor the 2nd Annual Christmas Parade of Lights. Line-up for the parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. between the Elementary and Primary School buildings.

Categories for the parade include commercial floats, organizational floats, antique autos and tractors, horse/pony, walking, or truck/trailer entries. All entries must be lighted. Prizes will be awarded to the winners. The deadline for signing up is Friday, December 1. Entry forms are available at the Parmer County Sheriff’s Office, 300 4th Street in Farwell and at the Chamber office.

Celebrate the spirit of Christmas in Friona this year.
