Margie Herring’s home was the backdrop for the late season snow last Saturday. Snow fell most of the day and brought much needed moisture to the area. The snow was gone as quickly as it came leaving the area a bit greener and definitely wetter.

How about that snow Saturday? I was one of those that said it was too late in the year for snow. I was wrong. I haven’t heard numbers for the accumulation but it was fair amount of moisture. Hopefully it came at the right time and the right amount for area farmers. (more...)

Lewis named 2017 FHS Distinguished Graduate

Friona High School officials announced this week that Del Lewis has been named the 2017 FHS Distinguished Graduate. Lewis will be honored at the FHS Senior Academic Awards on Sunday, May 7 at 2 p.m. in the FHS Auditorium. (more...)

Chieftains head to Bi-District

The Friona Chieftains baseball team will go into a Bi-District as the third place team in the district. Playoff Game One against Littlefield will be on Friday, May 5 in Littlefield at 6 p.m. Game Two will be in Friona at noon on Saturday, May 6. If there is a tie, Game Three will be played 30 minutes after conclusion of second game, also in Friona. Way to go Chiefs!
