The Longest Day - Part 2

Bluebonnet Home Health & Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association and the Ellis Family encourage everyone to participate in The Longest Day on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 to advance research toward the first survivor of Alzheimer’s.

Below is an excerpt of a journal from Carol Ellis that lived in Friona and contributed to years of ownership and editing of the Friona Star.

The excerpt is from a spouse whose loved one was afflicted by a mind debilitating disease. This disease is known to affect 5 million Americans across the nation. We can learn from reading these excerpts that the disease not only affects the afflicted but also affects the significant others in his or her life.

“The days here are quiet: the nights are quieter. But if I listen I can hear the walls vibrate with all the love and laughter absorbed throughout the years here. I’ve never been this alone before, knowing that he no longer participates in the human race, and his time on earth is limited. How long, I do not know. The cupboard at our house is full, but the fridge is almost empty. Why fix a nice meal for just one person.” -Carol Ellis

Please join the community in supporting the campaign for raising funds for advancing research through the Alzheimer’s Association called ‘The Longest Day’. By contributing to this fund you are supporting the advancement of research and signifying support for those in your life and others who are affected by the disease process of Alzheimer’s.

To honor past residents the late Bill Ellis and Carol Ellis it was chosen to place her excerpts in the Friona Star as the choice of activity to raise funds for this particular campaign. Your donation signifies support, care, and passion for the advancement of research towards the treatment and knowledge of Alzheimer’s.
