The City of Friona received a late Christmas present in the form of a new ambulance Thursday, December 28. The Governor’s Extraordinary Emergency Fund provided the ambulance after city officials applied for a grant.

The City of Friona employes held a retirement reception Friday, December 29 for City Manager Patricia Phipps who retired effective December 31, 2017. Leander Davila has been hired as the incoming City Manager.

Grant provides new Friona ambulance

“It’s a GREAT day in Friona!!!!!!! The City of Friona received an ambulance that was given by the Governor’s Extraordinary Emergency Fund,” stated Friona Mayor Rick White. “This is a great improvement to our existing Emergency Medical Service. We are very thankful to the Governor’s office for their consideration and generosity awarding Friona the new ambulance.” (more...)

Friona Star has new owners

The Friona star is under new ownership. A group of local investors organized as Friona Star, LLC have purchased the Friona Star. The new owners are Danny & Holly Campbell, Bill & Jeri Lynn White, Teddy & Sharon White, and Clint Mears. All are long-time friends of previous owners Bill & Carol Ellis and Ron Carr. (more...)

Local Stock Show January 15

The Friona Local Stock Show will be held on Monday, January 15, 2018 at the Friona Community Center. All Friona FFA, Friona 4-H, and Bovina 4-H members are invited to participate. The barn will open at 9:30 a.m. and animals need to be in the barn and registered by 1:30 p.m. Registration fees are $15.00 per animal and are due at the time of the show. The show will begin at 2:00 p.m. with goats followed by sheep and pigs. Brian Blackburn is judging this year. The Friona FFA will have a concession stand serving hamburgers, all the fixins, and baked goods. Come out and support your local 4-H and FFA. (more...)
