• The annual Survivor Dinner will be Thursday, November 8th at the First Baptist Church, beginning at 6 p.m. This year, we will have entertainment provided by local musicians. Invitations will be mailed to local cancer survivors in the coming weeks.

The Parmer County Cancer Coalition was founded in 2010. Their primary focus has been to assist local cancer patients and survivors in battling the disease, and provide education and outreach to the county about cancer. With that in mind, they began a Community Assistance Grant program in 2010, to provide a funding source for county residents who are being treated for cancer.

Since 2010, they have given out 150 grants, totaling about $78,000. These $500 grants are available to any Parmer County resident that has a cancer diagnosis. The funds can be used for anything the recipient wants, from rent to gas to medical bills. The recipient can re-apply yearly for the grant as long as treatment is continuing. A grant application can be found on page 8.

The PCCC is a non-profit charity governed by a board of local volunteers, and funded by the generosity of our county residents and businesses. They would like to thank the board members for their dedication to the cause: Heidi Eichenauer, Tracy Ellis, Jyl Grimsley, Greg & Jamie Lewellen, Mike Prather, JoDonna Terry and Rhonda Wilkins. They would especially like to thank the donors from across the county, that make the services they provide possible through their financial support.
