Dorothy Faye Ingram

Dorothy Faye Ingram, 94, of Friona passed away Thursday, May 10, 2018 in Friona. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2018 at the Friona United Methodist Church in Friona with Rev. Skip Hodges, pastor, officiating. Burial following in the Friona Cemetery by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Dorothy was born October 25, 1923 in Wellington to Louis Jerrell and Hattie Gollihugh Jones. She married W.S. “Dub” Ingram October 2, 1940 in Wellington.

She was a member of the Hub Ladies Club and the Friona United Methodist Church.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant daughter-Sharon Faye Ingram, 1 brother-L.J. Jones Jr., 1 sister-Mary Lee Cass, 1 great-grandson Aaron Osborn and 1 son-in-law- Robert Osborn.

Those remaining to carry on her legacy include 2 sons-Cris Ingram and wife Sylvia and John Ingram and wife Beverly, all of Friona, 3 daughters- Joy Osborn of Friona, Cindy Cassels and husband Dwayne of Hereford, and Teresa McCoy and husband Bill of Temple along with 18 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Betty Ann (nee Sachs) Christ

Betty Ann (nee Sachs) Christ was born on August 16, 1955 in Friona, Texas to Melvin Gilbert and Esther Meta (nee Krueger) Sachs. She was baptized into the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ on September 4, 1955 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in the Rhea Community, rural Parmer County, Texas, with Pastor E.J. Stelling presiding. Her Godparents were her aunts, Irene Gober and Alma Goetz. She affirmed her baptismal covenant in the Rite of Confirmation and received her First Communion on March 30, 1969 at Redeemer Lutheran in Friona, Texas with Pastor Otto Kretzmann presiding. Betty graduated a year ahead of her class from Friona High School in 1972. She attended Concordia University-Austin, South Plains Community College, Levelland, Texas Tech University in Lubbock and Texas Lutheran College (now University) in Seguin; and completed her degree work at Sangamon State University (now Univ. of Illinois at Springfield) in Springfield, Illinois in 1978 receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child, Family and Community Services. While traveling with the Lutheran Youth Encounter Ministry Team “Hosanna” she met B. A. “Tim” Christ in Springfield, Illinois. They were united in marriage on September 3, 1977 at Faith Lutheran Church in Springfield with Pastor Wellington Witkop presiding. Their union produced three children.

Betty’s passion was education, especially Christian education and formation, having begun teaching Sunday School at the age of 14. Retiring from public education in 2013, she had taught at Burton ISD, Aldine ISD, Waller ISD, Lamar ISD and Alief ISD. She also taught at Sacred Heart Academy in Crosby, and after retirement from the public sector, for the last five years at Westlake Christian Preparatory Academy (LCMS) in west Houston, going on disability as a result of cancer. She also served for a period of time as a field representative for Augsburg-Fortress Publishing house, serving Churches and Christian Book stores in six states.

Betty’s life was active in the Church wherever husband Tim was serving as Pastor, including Emmanuel Lutheran (Greenvine), Burton, TX; Atascocita Lutheran, Humble, TX; Zion Lutheran (Zionsville), Brenham, TX; and for the past 18-years at Joy Lutheran in Richmond, Texas. She also served at District and Synodical levels in Christian Education. Bible Camp was always near and dear to her heart and she was involved in camping ministry at Ceta Glen in Palo Duro Canyon; Camp Lone Star in La Grange; Camp Lutherhill in La Grange, and most recently with Cross Trails Ministry and Camp Chrysalis at Kerrville, especially enjoying grandparent camp with her grandchildren.

After a year-long battle with colon cancer, Betty was called from the Church Militant to the Church Triumphant while at home with her husband Tim, son Joshua and daughter Jessica by her side on May 7, 2018 at the age of 62-years, 8-months and 21-days.

Betty is survived by her husband of nearly 41-years, Pastor Bernard Augustus “Tim” Christ, STS; two sons; Timothy David (Betty) Christ of San Antonio, TX; Joshua Daniel (Shannon) Christ of Georgetown, TX; and one-daughter, Jessica Rachael (Sergio) Christ-Robles of Katy, TX. She is also survived by four grandsons: Kaleb Melvin Christ of San Antonio; Keaton Augustus and Asher Daniel Christ of Georgetown and Nicholas Evan Christ-Hood of Katy.

In addition, Betty is survived by her 96-year-old mother, Esther Meta Sachs of Pahrump, Nevada; two-half-brothers; Charles (Glenna) Wagner of Pahrump and Steve (Georgia) Wagner of Brighton, Colorado. She is also survived by one nephew and two nieces and their families. In addition, Betty is survived by numerous cousins and many, many friends and colleagues.

Betty was preceded in death by her grandparents; her father, Melvin Gilbert Sachs; 4-aunts and two uncles.

Betty carefully prepared her requiem worship to proclaim “Jesus as Lord” in the promised hope of the Resurrection of the Body to life eternal. A time of remembrance and comfort will be held on Wednesday evening, May 16 at 7:00 p.m. in the parish hall at Joy Lutheran Church. The requiem worship will be held at Joy Lutheran Church on Thursday, May 17 at 11:00 a.m. with the three Vicars who trained at Joy Lutheran leading worship: Pr. Tonya Brittain, STS; presiding; Pr. Chris Metze, assisting, and Vicar Logan Wilmoth preaching. A reception will follow the requiem worship in the Parish Hall at Joy Lutheran with the food provided by “It’s the Pits” Cookers and Joyful Women. Inurnment will take place at the Rhea Lutheran Cemetery in rural Parmer County, Texas on Saturday, May 19 at 10:30 a.m. The family requests no flowers but rather memorials may be made to Cross Trails Ministry, 391 Upper Turtle Creek Rd., Kerrville, TX 78028; or Joy Lutheran Church, 717 FM 359, Richmond, TX 77406.

Rest eternal grant her, O Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon her.
