There’s still time to sign up for Friona Chieftain Baseball Camp! This camp will be held Wednesday, May 30 through Friday, June 1 and is for kids in 3rd-9th grade (of the 2018-2019 school year). Times of the camp each day will be from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (noon). Grab a registration form and bring it with you on the first day—it’s as easy as that. Call or text Coach Rosales at (806) 443-3535 for questions or for your form. Cost for the camp is $20 and may be paid on the first day with registration.

The 6th Annual Texas South Plains Honor Flight golf tournament will be held this Saturday, May 19, at the Rawls Golf Course on the Texas Tech University campus. The tournament will be a four-man scramble format with double shotgun starts scheduled at 8 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. For more information about the tournament, contact Robert Baker at 553wine@unitedtexas.com or (806) 577-3030.

Zachary of Friona and Donna Mullins-Forbis of O’Donnell wrote an article titled “We Need to be Moore!” that is currently featured in the April/May issue of Rostrum Magazine, published by the National Speech and Debate Association. Caprock Canyons State Park is hosting their 7th Annual Frontier Days this Saturday, May 19. Visit 19th century and earlier encampments where you can learn about the Buffalo Soldiers, early area ranching, pioneer women, Native American life, and so much more. The event begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 3:00 p.m. Park admission is $4 for adults, $2 for seniors and free for children 12 and under.

Friona Elementary will hold their award ceremony on Monday, May 21 in the JH Auditorium. The 2nd and 3rd grade ceremony will be at 12:00 p.m. and the 4th and 5th grade ceremony will be at 2:00 p.m. The Friona Junior High will hold their ceremony in the JH Auditorium at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 22.

The Friona Teacher’s Organization will host a retirement reception on Tuesday, May 22 from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at the Friona ISD Administration building boardroom. The reception is to honor Randy Johnson, Roberta Johnson, Lisa Reed, Carla Scott, and Leslie Wright. The public is invited to attend and wish the recipients well in their retirement.

Friona’s 3rd Annual Kidz Building camp will take place July 24-27 with Building Days being from 5-9:00 p.m., sleepover on the 27th and breakfast on the 28th. Volunteers are needed for all areas of this event! Contact the Friona Chamber at (806) 250-3491 for more information.
