THE UNTOUCHABLES… (l-r) Dale Houlette, Larry Widner, and Emma Rector were all winners the past couple of weeks. Dale won a grill in a Bovina raffle, Larry won the Browning shotgun in the Noon Lions Club raffle, and Emma won a $22 pot by picking the Jack of Hearts out of deck of cards last week at the Lions club meeting.


Friona High School student Lizbeth Rojas was one of 800 high school cheerleaders from across the U.S. who participated in the world famous London New Year’s Day Parade in London, England. The cheerleaders were invited to perform in the celebration as part of the All-American program. They were chosen based on their superior athletic and leadership skills exhibited at summer camps across the country last year. Only the top 12% of athletes who attend the camps earn the chance to perform in the holiday spectacular.

County stock show starts Tuesday

The 83rd Annual Parmer County Junior Livestock Show is set to begin on Tuesday, January 14th and will run through Thursday, January 16th. Board President Greg O’Brian said there are 430 entries ready to impress the judges. He invites everyone to come out to the Friona Event Center and support the local and county 4-H and FFA students. Greg said he would also like to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors, and buyers who make the show such a success and keep it growing. (more...)
