The FHS Thespians #1379 will be presenting their fall play “Mid-Summer is Jersey” on November 4th at 2 p.m. and November 5th at 7 p.m.. Tickets will be $5 for adult and $3 for student and senior citizens. Doors will be open 30 minutes prior the show.

Early voting has begun in Parmer County; Parmer County Clerk’s office October 29- Nov. 2nd from 8:30 to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., InterBank October 30 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.. General Election will be on November 6th.

The Parmer County Soil and Water Conservation District is sponsoring an Essay contest, open to all Parmer County resident students 18 years old and younger. They are also hosting a Poster contest for resident students 12 years old and younger. This year the theme is “Life in Soil: Dig Deeper.” There are cash prizes of up to $100 for essay winners. St. Ann’s Catholic Church of Bovina will host their annual Turkey Dinner on Sunday, November 4 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the St. Ann’s Parish Hall on 3rd Street in Bovina. They will be serving turkey & dressing, creamed potatoes & gravy, green beans, homemade bread, cranberry sauce, relish plate, desserts, and tea & coffee. Donations will be $12 for adults and $6 for children under 6 years of age. Take-out plates will be available at no additional charge. A quilt made by St. Ann’s Society will be raffled off at the dinner.

St. Teresa Catholic Church will be having a Turkey Dinner Sunday November 11 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. The menu will be turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes, green beans, dessert, coffee, and tea. The cost will be $12.00 for adult and $6.00 for children under 10 years of age.

An AA meeting for the Parmer County area has been schedule for Thursday, November 1 at the Friona United Methodist Church located at 301 E. 8th street in Friona. The meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. and please use north entrance of the building on 9th street.

Former Bovina resident Carolyn Rains called this past week to notify us that we had mistakenly told our readers to move their clocks ahead for the time change. She reminded us of the old saying “fall back and spring forward.” Carolyn lives near family in Saginaw which is a suburb of Fort Worth. She said she misses Bovina and Parmer County. Carolyn and her husband operated Parmer County Spraying for many years. Thanks for the call Carolyn, and for reading the Friona Star.

Calvary Baptist Church will have two guest speakers on Sunday, November 4th. At 9:30 a.m., Friona native James Weatherly will give his testimony and talk about his experience in dealing with cancer. At 10:45 a.m., Ron Harris of Springdale, Arkansas will present the sermon during the morning worship service.
