Erith Hawkins

Erith Hawkins, 81 of Bovina, longtime Parmer County resident, passed away January 25, 2019 at his residence. Celebration of Life Memorial Services were at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday January 29, 2019 at the Bovina United Methodist Church in Bovina with Rev. Larry Mitchell, pastor, officiating. Cremation and arrangements by HANSARD FAMILY Funeral Home of Friona.

Erith was born January 11, 1938 in Hereford to Roy S and Ruth Z. Norton Hawkins. He later married Lavoida Mae Newbrough, December 23, 1966.

Erith served in the United States Army stationed in Germany. He was and area farmer, rancher, cattleman and truck driver. He loved rodeos and was a past President of Bovina Roping Club. Erith loved sports, especially the Texas Rangers, Dallas Cowboys and University of Texas. Erith was known for his honesty and sense of humor. He was a member of the Bovina United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, 2 brothers, Charles Hawkins and Harold Hawkins.

Those to carry on his legacy include 3 sons-Arby Hawkins and Leighanne Malmin of Puyallup, Washington, Daryl Hawkins and Theana Davis of Clovis, and Chet Hawkins and wife Trish of Tulia, 1 brother-Gene Hawkins and wife Louise of Lubbock , 1 sister-Roylene Keel and husband Herman of Amarillo, 5 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
