Census News

The Friona community has outdone itself yet again! Our 2020 Census numbers are looking great at a 40.9% response rate, almost matching Texas’ state-wide response rate number of 41.1%. However, the Census is far from over, and you still have time to take the survey.

If you are filling out the census for your household, you should count everyone who is living there as of April 1, 2020. This includes anyone related or unrelated to you — who lives and sleeps at your home most of the time. Count roommates, college students, young children, newborns, and anyone who is renting a space in your home. If someone is staying in your home on April 1st and has no usual home elsewhere, you should count them in your response to the 2020 Census. Please count everyone living in your home. Where there are more people, there are more needs.

As we mentioned before, census takers will not be traveling door to door for your safety and theirs. But you can still complete your survey online even if you do not have access to the internet. Thanks to WT Services, there is a free Wi-Fi hotspot located at the City Park at Main and 7th Street that you can use. Thank you WT!

You should be proud of our community. We have risen to the challenge and are showing everyone why Friona is the Biggest Small Town in Texas! Remember that the Census is SAFE, EASY, and IMPORTANT! For additional information please visit www.2020census.gov.
