Johnston hired as county auditor

Parmer County Commissioners met Monday August 26 at the courthouse in Farwell.

They approved an interlocal agreement for the 911 service now being provided out of the Sheriff’s Office. Effective September 1, 2013 people called to jury duty will be paid $40 per day after the first day if they are selected for a jury.

Polling places will be consolidated for the November 5 state constitutional amendment election. Four polls will be open, one each in Friona, Farwell, Bovina, and Lazbuddie. Increases in County Clerk fees was discussed but tabled until the next meeting.

The rate charged for out of county inmates housed in the Parmer County jail was increased from $33 per day to $45 per day. The county jail houses many inmates from Clovis.

County Judge Trey Ellis said 287th District Judge Gordon Green has hired Larry Johnston of Friona to serve as the full time County Auditor.

The next commissioners meeting was re-scheduled from September 9 to September 10, 2013. County Commissioners meetings are open to the public.
