The Chieftains were bruised and battered Friday night by the Muleshoe Mules in a district contest at Muleshoe. The Chiefs lone score came in the 4th quarter on a Gabriel Chico touchdown and Juan Macias extra point. The Chiefs leading rusher, Chico was held to 48 yards on 12 carries by the stubborn Mule defense.
Quarterback Dallin Woods completed only two of ten pass attempts for five yards. The Mules outgained the Chiefs on offense 495-98 yards.
On defense Big Chief Edgar Guerrero was credited with 9.5 tackles, 7 of them solo. Mason Mireles had 8 tackles, 5 of them solo.
The game this week is with River Road here. Kickoff is at 7:30 p.m. River Road and Dimmitt are 0-2 in District 1-3A Division 1. Friona and Childress are 1-1, while Littlefield and Muleshoe are 2-0.
