FM 1172 road repair project

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is set to begin work on a $3.26 million project to make roadway improvements to almost seven miles of FM 1172 in Parmer County, from FM 2397 to SH 86.

“The project will make needed improvements and repairs to the pavement, but is also expected to enhance the overall safety of the roadway,” said Steve Perez, P.E, TxDOT Littlefield Area engineer.

Motorists traveling on FM 1172 will see traffic reduced to one-lane and detoured around the work zone at various times throughout the project as contractor Gilvin-Terrell, LTD., of Amarillo, rebuilds and resurfaces the roadway. The project is scheduled to begin next week and will start with culvert work, Perez said.

Motorists are asked to drive with caution through the work zone, be on the lookout for workers and avoid distractions for their own safety and the safety of the workers. The project’s completion date is scheduled for September 2014.
